My voice didn't come out of my throat.
I tried again.
"Sangeeta__"
"Do you want to eat something? Maybe some bread or anything?"
She did not reply. She was sitting at a corner of the sofa closing her eyes. So much had happened in one day. It was even hard for me to believe the randomness of the events.
And that idiot Payel made it even more uncomfortable for me by mentioning the kiss.
I collected all of my courage from my belly, chest, throat, and everywhere else and tried to make a meaningful sentence to present to Sangeeta as an apology or explanation, whatever it was.
"About what Payel said.. that's true. But trust me, it was sudden. I was not expecting that from him. I should have told you.." , I tried to make it sound the best.
Sangeeta opened her eyes.
"We should not keep secrets, okay?", to my greatest surprise, she was smiling at me.Just at that moment I understood that, I was the only shelter for her right now. I was the only person in that strange city who could hold her.
Amit was the only person in the office whom she talked to, but it's evident that he had the least care for her. He was just another selfish boy, who was taking advantage of her kindness.
She never actually interacted with Shivam that much. And Payel ..
Let's not mention her.
About Saurav, I even was not sure what to call him.
Maybe just the best friend.
The best friend , who's now laying on the hospital bed. No one knows when he'll get up.
I prepared some chocolate milk and brought that to her, with some cookies. I hoped she would eat it.
So she did. Sangeeta was never a girl to say no to food. This made one thing clear that she was putting herself first.
That she was strong enough to endure this.
And that was the reason I loved her.
A sudden notification popped up on my phone screen.
Shivam. He got the news too. So he was asking about Saurav's condition. I replied him and told him that I would be taking a leave from office today.
We had exchanged our numbers with Mitali last night. So I went to the table to fetch my phone and make a call to her about Saurav.
"Hello? ", The person replied from the other end.
"Mitali? It's me Shreya! How's he?", I asked."Oh! I forgot.. he just opened his eyes some 15 minutes ago.. so sorry. I just forgot to inform you guys.. "
"It's alright.. it's alright.. what matters is that he is well now. "
Sangeeta snapped her head towards me at my mention of well.
"Did he.. ""He came back to his senses.. he's alright now. " I answered to her unfinished question.
Sangeeta heaved a sigh of relief. But she had a bunch of questions ready for him. Maybe waiting for the right time.
______________
Sangeeta's P O V:
I didn't want to face a particular person when I went out. But, wow. It's her.
Payel had already become one of the most irritating person for me.
And I don't like to even see the persons who irritate me.
To my great satisfaction, I successfully ignored that girl. She was coming out of the lift and I was doing just the opposite. I didn't bother to even smile at her and I was really happy when the lift door closed making a wall between the two of us.
This was one of the most important differences between Shreya and me.
I can ignore people. She can't .
As I walked out of the building, I felt the weather to be a little chilly.
November vibes.
I loved it but my heart just didn't respond to all the things I had loved before.
I regreted my decision to think of anything else with Saurav other than friendship.
I was so wrong.
Third person P O V:
She left the complex and walked through the busy evening streets. She stopped as she looked at the park where she and Saurav had come that day.
Memories.
It hurts so much.
She knew what to do now.
She knew that she was not going too far away from Saurav all of a sudden.
But she knew that she was going to increase the distance little by little. She fell in love with someone, who loved her in the past. But in the present, he didn't anymore.
What a paradox!
He had moved on. How could she not see it in his eyes? That it was just the happiness of getting back the lost friendship. That it was not love.
One drop of warm tear fell from her eyes, followed by the other, which led the other.
Better to cry.
Just at that moment, she received a message from an unknown number.
>> Holla amigos! Your buddy Anusha here!
>> How are you????????
>> Guess what! You have to come back Kolkata! Hehe! Ask me why! They would just be jealous of us,
They don't know about the up all nights
They don't know I've waited all my life
Just to find a love that feels this right[A/N : In my headphones, Spring day was playing when I finished writing this.
I guess it was my favorite chapter to write..may be a little sad and boring..
I hope you like it. ]
