The phone rang.
It's Amit.
"What's it? ", Sangeeta picked it up and answered it.
"Why the hell did you go back? You knew that you were keeping all my flash drives and project files. Now that you have backed out and didn't join the trip, how can I manage things? "
So loud was his voice, that Shreya could hear it from a far, though couldn't understand everything.
She just got an idea that the jerk was shouting at Sangeeta!"You have no freaking idea what's happening here?", Sangeeta exclaimed.
"I don't need to.. all I know that I thought that you were a little more professional.. "
"So you want me to come right away? Wherever hell you are having that petty trip? Tell me what do you want!"
"I don't mean that Sangeeta....."
But she didn't let him finish.
"JUST SHUT THE HELL UP AMIT.
You are the worst employee there who'd been literally dependant about anything and everything on me and now you're ordering me! "Shreya didn't want to interfere but having a glance at the staring eyes on them in that canteen, she tried to just calm her down.
"Sangeeta, hang it up! Don't talk to him.. please.. ", she requested her in a low voice.
Sangeeta seemed to be agreeing with her as she immediately cut that call and cupped her forehead with her palms.
"I'm going nuts here.. and this idiot... " Sangeeta huffed.
"Let him be. Don't give a crap to him right now. There are other things we should be doing now. "
Like a flash of electricity, something came to Shreya's mind.
"Did anyone inform his parents? Family? " She asked.
"I hope she does. She is the most suitable person to do so. " Sangeeta replied.
Just a minute later, Mitali entered the canteen and her eyes traveled through every corner of the canteen.
After her effort, she finally found the two sitting on two chairs facing each other with two cups of tea on the table in the middle.
"Um.. hey! ", She waved at Shreya and Sangeeta from a distance.
"You're here. Then who's there for Saurav?" , Sangeeta asked with anxious.
"Oh, one of his brothers came and his uncle too. So I suggested to come to talk to you guys. ", She grinned a little.
At first, Shreya hated this girl for barging into Sangeeta's peaceful life but gradually she understood that the girl was actually a very nice person.
She was not actually from Kolkata. But she stayed there for some seven and eight months during the period of her MBA. According to her, there she befriended Saurav in her institution.
Shreya's P O V:
It was already three hours passed after the operation was over and Saurav was shifted to a cabin.
He didn't wake up yet.
Several questions were running my mind.
What kind of an accident it was? How it happened? Why neither of me or Sangeeta had any idea of the existence of this girl Mitali?
And the most important one, how could Mitali admit him to this nursing home? I mean, who informed her?
But there was no answer to these questions. It was early hours of the morning and we were still sitting and waiting for him to open his eyes.
A voice could be heard through the corridor and as we snapped our head towards it, a familiar figure appeared.
Saurav's father.
We all stood up to greet him. It was prominent by the look in his eyes and his face, that he had taken the first flight he could get to reach Pune from Chandigarh.
He came and asked about his son. Learning that he still didn't open his eyes, he became more tensed.
"What had actually happened? I mean what injuries? " , He threw a question to all of us, so that anybody could give him the answer.Saurav's uncle spoke up.
"Some head injuries and one hand's been fractured. No such major injuries dada" he explained. He started a conversation with Mitali right after that.
However, both of me and Sangeeta felt a little uncomfortable staying there among all the family members.Understanding that, one of Saurav's cousin said, "um hey, Sangeeta! I think you both should go home now. Like.. it's pretty late and all of us are here. So maybe you can go and have some rest. "
Though Sangeeta didn't want to go, I agreed and told her that it would be better if we head back and take a little rest.
It was already 6 am in the morning when we reached our building. As we walked out of the lift to get to our flat, I faced another familiar face.
Payel.
"I heard about him", She said. "How's he now? Better? "
I nodded.
"Was Shivam with you too?", Another question came towards me.
"No!" , I answered as shortly as possible.
"So where was he? Why didn't he pick up my calls Shreya?"
I sighed. "How can I know about it?"
"Who else can answer me, Shreya?" Payel glared at me very bitterly.
I let out a sigh. "I don't have much time for this. Let's talk about it later."
"Can you answer me why you are coming between us?" Payel let out a cry. "I am in love with him .. why do you do this?"
I mentally cursed her. At this hour of the morning, she was on the doorway of her building to initiate a --- a fight with me!
"What are you? psycho? Don't you realize we are tired and don't have any -- any single bit of interest in seeing your goddamn face and facing these shitty questions? ", Sangeeta finally spoke up. She couldn't take it anymore.
Payel paused and we headed on to unlock the door before she could restart this arguement.
But, I guess she just wanted me to face all kinds of hell.
"Then Shreya, what about the kiss? "
My feet felt numb and I couldn't face Sangeeta anymore.
