The old man seemed to grow angry at the mention of the book.
"Why is it all the young adventurers these days want this thing! I bet it's because of personal greed or wealth."
"Well actually, we want to bring peace to Lepstria, sir." Snake informed the old librarian.
"Please don't make such lies just to get a stupid book."
"It's true!" Explained Jund.
The old man studied their facial expressions. After a few moments of silent examination he came to a conclusion.
"You look like you two elves are telling the truth. But to get the book you have to answer some questions."
"Alright." Said Snake.
"Fine." Agreed Jund.
"What are your names?"
Jund contemplated giving the old man their real names, but something inside him knew that he could trust him.
"My name is Scott Jund."
Snake realized that Jund was using his actual name this time, not some exaggerated lie like last time.
"And I'm Snake."
The old man rubbed his hairy chin
"Hmm... Those are strange names, but I wouldn't expect any less of elvish names."
He continued "Are you keeping the book for yourselves? Or are you giving it to somebody else?"
"Well," said Jund "We're actually in a group. The others are waiting outside of town for us."
"Why aren't they here now?" The old man grew suspicious.
"They... Aren't exactly on good terms with the Dark Prince and his army."
"Why aren't you with them then."
Jund started to explain the cave incident. How he and Snake got trapped in a net and missed the whole fight. It was pretty embarrassing to Jund because he had to explain that he was the one to spring the trap and that Snake and Jund fought over escaping a net.
"Well. That is an interesting story. It would do nicely in a collection of old adventure tales for kids." Said the old man. "And now your last question. How do you feel about Dark Prince Zak?"
Snake answered first "I have a strong hatred to the way he treats people. His views are narcissistic and plain evil. He treats even his most loyal generals like pigs. And over all he is just a very cruel man."
The old man smiled. "Finally, someone with good senses. Dark Prince Zak should be taken off the throne... I would presume that bringing peace to Lepstria would include that."
"Indeed it would." Assured Jund.
"Jund," the old man said "do you have the same views as Snake?"
"Why yes." Jund answered graciously.
"Well, It seems that you two deserve this book.
"Dark Prince Zak came last night just before I closed and demanded I gave the dammed book to him. Well, I didn't. I made it clear to him I didn't have a book like that, but I did indeed have it. It's just hidden somewhere where nobody can find it. Not even with magic."
Jund wanted to prove what he just said using magic, but he found no point in it. The old man motioned Snake and Jund to follow him to the back of the library. There was a secret panel hidden under the floor boards, which he had locked with a spell. He opened it up and handed the book to Snake.
"I trust you two with this. Do not let this fall into the wrong hands."
Jund and Snake both promised at the same time.
"Well good. If you ever come back to Anviltide make sure to come back here with your friends. My name is Cato. I almost forgot to mention that."
"It was nice to meet you Cato." Snake said politely.
Snake, Jund and the Old man walked back to the front of the library.
"So long," said the old man "remember don't lose that book!"
"We promise." said Jund while exiting the Library.--------------------
Cry, Russ and Cheyenne were waiting for a few hours to get back. It was kind of boring just waiting there, but they all were nervous about Snake and Jund finding the book. At about noon Snake and Jund came back.
"Did you get it?" Asked Russ anxiously.
Snake nodded while pulling out the leather book from his traveling bag.
The Orc and two humans rushed towards Snake and Jund.
"Wow, it looks so old." Cry mentioned. "It's faded and looks like it has water damage."
"Yeah," said Jund before taking the book from Snake (without asking, of course) and flipping through the pages "this book has seen better days, but it's still readable."
"Should we stay here and read it or travel somewhere else?" Snake asked "because it's kind of dangerous being this close to town for a while."
"Yeah. We should get moving." Russ agreed.
"Then let's go." Said Cry while packing up his stuff to leave.----------------
(AN: To anyone who actually reads this story I would like to give a big thank you for reading this far. This story is far from over and I will try my hardest to continue. I'm also sorry for my lack of updates of my Assassin's Creed story. I'm going on a hiatus from it for a while, but I'll pick it up again one day. Bye for now! :3)
