Death At a Cost

Zak released the other 5 from the walls. Snake and Russ tried running to Jund's body, but Zak pushed them away.
"Fools. Suffering doesn't get you anywhere! Know turn and fight me!"
Zak started to roar as he sprouted magnificent wings and horns. His inner demon was let loose.
They looked at him in fear. They just killed their friend. Snake was probably the most affected by his death, but they still stayed strong and fought.
"Won't you all just give up? You know that you can't win!" Zak yelled.
"No... We can't!" Russ yelled as he swung his hammer at Zak's face.
Zak dodged it again. He had too much stamina. The Dark Prince was able to dodge pretty much anything.
Snake had an idea. It wasn't likely to work the first time, but it was the only way they could defeat Zak.
Snake looked over at Jund's dying body. Tears started to fill up in his eyes, but he didn't let them fall.
This is for you, Jund. Snake thought.

The 4 melee attackers were bruised and cut all over, but they kept fighting. Snake waited for a perfect moment he could fire. This was the only way he could hurt Zak.
"You won't ever give up will you! You guys-"
Snake fired an arrow at Zak's face as he was talking. It hit the Dark Prince right between the eyes.
"Rah!" Zak screamed as he pulled the arrow of of his head. Blood started streaming down his face. The Dark Prince teleported himself over to Snake and grabbed him by his throat.
"You guys never listen! Give. Up!" Zak squeezed his hand tighter around Snake.
Snake gritted his teeth. He tried to breath, but he would only let out a choke. Just as his vision started blurring Russ smacked Zak in the back of the head with a hammer. Zak let go of Snake and he fell to the ground, he was on his knees while regaining his breath.
Just as Zak turned around to face Russ, Cry had thrown his axe at Zak.
It pierced him through his back.
"Gah!" Zak let out as the blade struck his back.
Ziegs then finished him off with a swipe at the neck. The swing connected, and Zak fell down to the ground.
"You're... Weak..." The Dark Prince said as his strength faded from him.
"No. You're the one who was weak enough to use words to try to get our guard down!" Russ angrily yelled at Zak. The Dark Prince had affected him in the past with his harsh words, but now he realized that he can taunt him all he wants, but words are just words.
"Damn you..." Zak breathed out. His yellow eyes soon lost their light. He was dead.

They didn't have time to rejoice, because Jund was still lying the ground.
Snake got to him first. He kneeled over him.
"Jund! Stay with me! Cheyenne can heal you!" Snake yelled.
"No... Not even she can help me..." Jund spoke softly and weakly.
Snakes eyes filled with tears again. Everyone else's did to as they watched.
"Thank you Snake... You're my best friend... You all are my best friends...I'm glad to come this far with you..." Jund's brown eyes started to fade as he was drifting off.
"No! Stay with me!" Snake yelled in pain as he gabbed Jund's face.

Jund was gone. There wasn't anything they could do.

Snake started to cry. Something none of them had seen him do. Ziegs sat next to snake and wrapped her arm around him to comfort him as he cried.
"Snake. I'm sorry..." Ziegs said calmly.
"He was my best friend... I'm glad his death wasn't in vain." Snake said while wiping the tears off of his face. Snake was strong. He was able to compose himself back together after grieving. Snake slowly took Ziegs' arm off of him and stood up.

Cry and Russ walked together to the chest. They had come all this way to see the precious stone that was inside. They opened it to see that the whole thing was filled with gold coins. They rifled through it to find the Night Stone that was hidden inside.
But it wasn't.
"What the..." Russ said to himself.

"If you're looking for the Night Stone. I'm sorry to say it but, it doesn't exist." A voice said from be entrance of the hall.
