The adventurers traveled for 2 hours until they came across a good place to settle down. Cheyenne and Cry started pitching down the tents while Jund, Snake, and Russ started reading their newly acquired book together.
"I hope there's something useful in here." Said Russ
"There should be... The librarian made a large deal of us having this book." Responded Snake
"It's true," said Jund" He even told us not to let it into the wrong hands. And he sounded damn serious."
The conversation soon died down once Jund decided to finally open the book up.
The book was written by a retired adventurer who made 5 hypothesizes about where the Night Stone could be, but they couldn't go searching for it themselves because they were tool old and frail to travel their self. They read and discussed the book for about 30 minutes until Cheyenne and Cry were done.
"Have you found anything of use in that book?" Asked Cheyenne.
"Yes." Answered Jund "This book talks about 5 possible locations in detail and where we should find the stone at."
"So are we going to have to check every location?" Asked Cry
"Well the book hasn't said which place is more likely to have the stone, so I guess we'll have to. The first location is the small Dwarvish mining town of Vardenlafer, and the stone is in the cave somewhere."
"We should go to a place in the book that is closest to us." Russ suggested.
"Yes. We should." Agreed Snake.
"Well..." Jund said while flipping through the book. "The closest would be... In a well outside of the small town of Jawelle."
"Jawelle? It sounds familiar, but I don't know why." Said Cry.
"Isn't that were we met Zeigs?" Asked Snake.
"Oh, right! I can't believe I forgot."
"Jawelle should be about a days walk from here." Estimated Cheyenne. "Maybe 2."
Cheyenne was the navigator of this journey because she owned a very detailed map of Lepstria. She bought it from a strange dark elf adventurer that stayed at her parents inn when she used to live in Larkstead.
"We should rest here tonight before we go." Said Cry.
"I'm going hunting." Stated Snake.
Jund would have interrupted and said that he should go instead, but he remembered that he had a book to read.
"Thank you, Snake." Thanked Cry.
Snake took his bow off of his shoulder and held it in right hand as he walked off into the Forrest.Jund was the only one left reading the book. The other three sat by the campfire that Cry had made (surprisingly). Scott enjoyed the book. It not only described the places that the stone may be, but it also gave adventuring tips for along the way. By the time Snake got back with a couple of rabbits to cook Jund had gotten to the 200th page.
"I think I should cook this time." Said Cry.
"It's okay, I've got it, Cry." Assured Russ. He was the one to cook for the group. He's pretty good so everyone lets him do it.
"Don't let him cook." Warned Cheyenne.
Cry started laughing "But why?!"
"The last time you wanted to cook for me it sucked. You burnt just about everything that was on my plate."
"But if I practice I can get better!"
"I can have him help me cook." Suggested Russ.
"I guess that would be fine as long as he doesn't screw up." Said Cheyenne."Turn it slowly, Cry. Not at the speed of a horse at full gallop." Instructed Russ
"I'm sorry!" Cry said as he started turning the rabbit slower of the fire.
Snake and Cheyenne watched Cry and Russ cook. It was pretty entertaining. But, Jund was focused on finishing the book. He was reading about the 5th location, which was in a Forrest near the elvish city of Timide.
"Phew! That was hard." Cry sighed.
"Yeah. It turned out pretty good though." Complimented Russ.
"Thanks buddy."
Snake and Cheyenne got up to go get their meals, but Jund still sat down. Snake turned towards Jund and looked down at him sitting on the ground.
"Don't you want to eat?" Asked Snake.
"I'm busy."
Snake walked over and grabbed his meal and then grabbed Scott's as well. He headed back over to where he sat and put it in front of Jund.
Jund looked up passed his book and took the food, which consisted of mostly rabbit with some seasonings on it, but it also came with some berries that Snake had found in the wild that were safe to eat (don't distrust Snake, he knows his stuff). Jund started to stuff his face with food while reading the book. After about 10 more minutes Jund finally finished the Night Stone book, and when he was done he realized that his friends were all sitting by the fire and talking to one another.
"Can you tell us some Orc stories, Cry?" Requested Russ.
"Sure, I guess." Said Cry. He started to think about a good story to tell. "Oh! I have a good one. It's the story of King Graltork and the false maiden."
"Sounds... Interesting." Said Snake.Cry began to tell of a story about an Orc king who wanted a queen to share his wealth with so he started asking all the single Orc women to come into his castle to meet. A greedy human took up on his offer and decided to paint himself a dark green color, put on a long black wig and wear a long blue dress. He entered the castle and met with Graltork. Graltork started to show interest in him and ended up falling in love with "her". But one day one of his guards spoke up and said "Sire, there is something odd going on here." The King asked what was wrong "Orc women don't normally wear dresses, don't you find this odd?" The King took little of this and became closer and closer with this imposter and eventually married, everything went smoothly until the honeymoon. Let's just say Graltork was very feisty that night and wanted to... Undress him. He found a very interesting surprise and exiled the man from his kingdom.
Jund was intrigued by this hilarious story so he sat closer with the group during the middle of the story. The tale was very funny and made everyone laugh, even Snake managed a few small giggles and he wasn't the kind of person to laugh a lot. The night was fun, they each told stories of each of their races until it was dark. They fell asleep quickly because they were tired, except for Jund. He was still pondering the book he read. This was going to be a long and difficult adventure. How were they going to get it accomplished? Jund though until his mind lingered no more and fell asleep.
