I always hated goodbyes.

Saying goodbye to my childhood bedroom, my little sisters, my brother, Lydia, my annoying neighbors, everyone.

I was going to miss getting that look from my parents when I stumbled (or should I say waddled) in late at night after hanging out with Parker.

But there was something nice about this goodbye.

I was going to be in a beautiful bustling city with Parker, Lydia, and Alena. Plus Columbia was such a prestigious school with so much to offer.

All I wanted to do was make these next four years great.

When you considered how long we traveled and how much the timezones fucked us up, Alena and I's dorms came out pretty well.

We went for the classic pink and grey look since it was the easiest to coordinate with and it looked pleasing to the eye.

Another thing that was pleasing to the eye was watching Parker do a bunch of heavy lifting.

You wouldn't believe how much the man bulked up in a year.

It was hard to sit there and just watch him when I had actually wanted to jump his bones. But my family and Alena's family was helping us moved in.

Plus they all stayed for the rundown on how to be a New Yorker.

It was a big change from Los Angeles.

No driving, no beaches, no your parents being in the same radius as you.

It was going to be an adjustment but I was excited about it.

No matter how much I thought I was ready to be away from my parents and be all by myself, saying goodbye to them at the airport hurt.

After eighteen years of being under their roof, I was spreading my wings and flying away.

'You're going to be just fine, Zibby." my Mom whispered in my ear as she hugged me, "Make us proud and remember, no grandbabies just yet."

I nodded, "Definitely not. Text me when you guys make it back."

"We will." my Dad assured me

We watched them until we couldn't anymore.

I turned to Parker, "And then there were two."

He grinned, "Wanna go to my place and order in?"

I nodded, "That sounds good."

Parker and I got into a black Tahoe that took us back to his place. Yes, Parker Fitzgerald had a fucking driver. Then again he was a Fitzgerald.

He lived in a beautiful penthouse on the upper east side that had a stunning view. There was a large private rooftop terrace that we always ate or hung out on. I loved hanging out on the terrace you could see the iconic New York skyline and get a glimpse of Central Park.

We decided to just order some pizza from a place that wasn't too far from his place.

"Do you want anything to drink?" Parker asked me as I laid on his couch, "Wine, sprite, tea, anything."

"Uh, wine would go good with the pizza and garlic knots." I got up, "Are you gonna send me off or are you riding with me?"

Parker poured me a glass of wine, "Ellie, come on you know me. I'd never let you go home alone late at night."

I gave him a smile, "I don't even know why I asked."

We took our pizza and wine out onto the terrace and sat down.

"I've been thinking about us Elle." Parker began

Parker and I's relationship was complicated. Some days we were either civil friends who could sit down and play some card games, some days we were super flirty and then other days we couldn't keep our hands off of each other and the clothes came off.

"Oh yeah?" I asked Parker

He looked at me, "I mean it's no secret that I care about you and I know you care about me. I care about you a lot."

"I feel a but coming." I beat him to it, "I've known you for a long ass time."

Parker nodded, "Yeah. I'm about to be traveling a lot for the next few months, I'm talking only being back in the states up to four days for the rest of the year. Ellie you know there's no one I want more in the world than you."

I looked into Parker's eyes, "And you know it goes both ways. There's a reason why I couldn't move on after you left. I couldn't even bring another boy to prom. I would wait for you until my hair was gray."

"That's the thing Ellie, I don't want you to spend your whole life waiting for me. You're in college. You should have fun and live your life." Parker spoke back

I sighed, "Parker, it's hard to move on when you're the person I've had so many firsts with. my first kiss, the first person I drank kombucha with, the first and only person I've had sex with. I don't know. You being busy just reminds us of why we broke things off in the first place."

Parker leaned back, "Can I l-bomb you?"

"Yes because it doesn't have to be romantic and I'll always l-bomb you." I answered his question

"Can I ask you something?" I asked Parker before you nodded, "If you weren't traveling would you want to start something?"

Parker brushed my hair behind my ear, "In a heartbeat, I would."

I moved the plate off of my lap and then I wrapped my arms around Parker.

He put his arms around me and rubbed my back, "I love you, Ellie. I just want the best for you."

"I love you, Parker." I told him as my heart broke a little bit, "Don't let us grow apart."

"I won't baby. I promise." Parker whispered in my ear

He knew me too damn well.
