In April, Parker and I went to Coachella with Alena, Zara, Jack Clayton, and Declan. I think it was pretty safe to say we had a pretty good time. I don't even think a good time was the word.
As we said, what happens in Palm Springs stays in Palm Springs.
Parker and I laid in bed at four in the morning after a wild ass Sunday.
"How long are you going to be gone for?" I asked him as I played with his hands
"Three weeks." he answered my question, "At least I'll give you room to focus on your finals. I know you're going to miss our weekly dinners."
I frowned, "I am."
"It'll be worth it in the end." he assured me as I turned towards him
"Are you coming to California this summer?" I looked him in the eyes
Parker nodded, "Of course. July and August. I couldn't stay away from you for that long."
"It's just a month." he assured as he wrapped his arms around me, "Just one stupid month."
He was right, him not being in the city definitely helped me focus on my finals.
But I lived for all of the postcards he would send me from small cities or countries in Europe. The man really had a way with words.
Even if there were only five sentences on the postcard he could make your heart skip a beat.
I finished out my sophomore year with a 3.8 and I didn't think that was too bad when you considered all the shit I went through.
I went back home in June only to fly to Hawaii the next day for our annual family vacation. It just didn't feel the same without Asher being there or helping him pack an hour before we were supposed to be at the airport.
We made the best of it and did all of the things Asher would want us to do like family surfing lessons, paddle boarding, and going to a luau the night before we left.
But you know, summer was still summer.
It was nice to have a break from school and catch up with your family. We spent a lot of days sleeping in, going to Disneyland, or by the pool. I really missed spending time with my sisters.
"Guess what?" my mom began as I walked into the kitchen
I sat down at the barstool, "I dunno."
"Parker is coming with us to Florida." she gave me the answer
I looked over at the clock, "Yeah, I figured. I'm supposed to pick him up from the airport in forty-five minutes."
"We're gonna go to dinner tonight and work on Asher's foundation and catch up." I added
My mom looked up from her phone, "Oh really now? And you guys aren't. together?"
I nodded, "I promise you when and if we start dating that you'll be the first to know."
"Do you think you're going to get back together?" she asked me
I shrugged, "I dunno, mom. I'm gonna go get ready."
"Is he coming back here tonight?" she wondered
"For sure tomorrow but we might go to his place in Malibu tonight." I explained to her before I went upstairs to my room
I brushed my hair out and put on some light makeup. I put on a black crop top tank with grey sweatpants and a black jacket.
Gosh, I was so excited to see him.
FaceTimes only did so much.
"Can I take your car?" I asked my Dad
There was a smug look on his face, "Which one? What's wrong with yours?"
