Parker and I's escape to Aruba was very hush-hush. It wasn't because we didn't want anyone to know we weren't together but more because we didn't want people texting us every hour and wondering what we were doing.
My parents and Alena thought I was in Boston volunteering for some organization I made up. Parker's Mom just thought he was working.
The only person who knew what was going on was Asher. After all, he was Parker and I's biggest supporter and we knew we could trust him no matter what.
"How does it feel to be twenty years old?" I asked Parker as we started the walk to his new property
"Sometimes I feel super old but other times I just think 'damn I'm only twenty.'" Parker spoke. We were standing in front of a lot in front of the beach that already had the structure of hotel built
I looked at him, "It's going to be super nice, P."
"The pool area is gonna have a waterslide and everything," he informed me
After spending the last few days with Parker it was interesting to see how he lived now. Parker was physically twenty years old but the way he lived was that of a fifty-year-old CEO. He was an economics/business expert, architectural genius, and an absolute sweetheart at the end of the day.
He was so extremely talented it was insane.
"What's your goal for chapter twenty?" I asked him while we stared at the building
"To build a hotel empire and be a fucking tycoon. Plus clean up my Dad's dirty laundry." Parker turned towards me
I put my hands on his cheeks, "I believe in you."
"That's what keeps me going." he gave me a smile, "Let's go to the beach."
Parker held my hand as we walked down to the beach. It made me so happy just to be here with him.
"What are your next few months looking like?" I asked Parker
"I'm supposed to go to Europe and talk to investors in a few different countries in December. Hopefully, they'll take me more seriously since I don't have teen in my age anymore." Parker answered my question
His eyes met mine, "You are going to be home for Christmas, right?"
"Yeah, I promise." he assured me as he rubbed my arm, "Hopefully everything will calm down soon. My mentor said the first three years or so will be the hardest and busiest."
Three fucking years.
"Oh." my voice trailed off
"Don't worry about it, I'll grab the bull by its horns or whatever the saying is one of these days." Parker continued, "This work is just draining."
"Just being in my dad's shoes now I can kinda understand why he did some of the things he did. I don't know how to change the structure of it all without pissing people off and them using my age as an excuse as to why I'm not fit for this." Parker began, "I know I can do this. I just don't like how they have everything planned out, it makes me feel like a puppet."
I frowned, "What do you mean?"
"I still feel like my Dad is constantly looming over me with a disappointed face no matter how well I do." Parker elaborated
"He'd be a fool to think you're a disappointment." I scoffed
Parker shrugged, "Well you knew William, nothing I did was ever good enough for him."
"Well, Elizabeth thinks the opposite." Parker looked at me with the cutest smile on his face, "And so does Caroline, Bailey, Asher, Vincent, Julie, everyone."
