Meredith's Pov.
Derek was supposed to have been here. He was coming home early from D.C to spend time with his family. He hasn't called me in a while and I was getting nervous.
"Where is Derek? Wasn't he supposed to be here?" I asked his best friends Mark Sloan-Lexie's boyfriend-
"He was supposed to be but I haven't heated anything" he said. He went and sat down next to Lexie.
"He will be here Meredith" Arizona said. "He is probably stuck in traffic" she added.
"I'm going to call him one more time" I said. The line rang over and over again. In the end there was no response.
"Anything?" Arizona asked. I shook my head. I shut my phone off and placed it in my purse. The dinner was good. The room was filled with conversation and everyone was happy even me.
"Thank you Bailey for this wonderful dinner, but I am afraid that me and Lexie are going to get going" Mark said.
"Drive sage guys!" Bailey shouted. The boded and said goodbye to everyone.
"I will see you when I get home" Lexie said. She kissed me on the cheek and walked over to Mark.
After the dinner was over, I said goodbye to everyone and went home. The drive home was quick and quiet.I can't believe Derek never showed up.
"How was the dinner? And where is Lexie?" My mother asked as I walked through the kitchen.
"The dinner was okay and Lexie is out with Mark" I said.
"And Derek?" She said.
"Never showed up" I said. She was shocked.
"He stood you up!" She said loudly. "Is there something at work that kept him?" She asked.
"I don't know" I said.
"What do you mean you don't know?" She asked.
"He hasn't answered or called me" I said. She looked furious. We sat down on the couch and watched some Tv.
"I can't believe him" she said.
"I can't either mom" I said.
