Chapter 24

'Nung makababa kami sa eroplano, I am surprised to see who was waiting for us.

" Nandito ako para sunduin ka, mahal na prinsesa."bungad ni Jason, saka iminuwestra ang nakaparadang kotse sa likuran niya.

Napalingon ako kay Tres.
'Did you tell anyone that I'm coming back?'
I mindlinked him. Umiling naman siya bilang sagot.
Sure it won't be him.

Nilingon ko ulit si Jason.
" I don't understand. Hindi ako nagtawag ng driver. We can manage. Thank you."

Hinarang nito ang kamay kaya hindi ako nahakbang paalis.
" Utos iyon ng hari."

Napakunot ang noo ko. Tiningnan kong mabuti kung nagsisinungaling ba si Jason pero mukhang seryoso ito sa sinabi.
" Paano nalaman ni Valentine na darating ako?"

He shrugged his shoulders. " Ang sinabi lang niya ay sunduin kita at siguraduhing maihahatid sa palasyo."

Napakunot lalo ang noo ko.

Bakit niya naman gagawin 'yun? Didn't he just cut off the engagement? And what's the point of all that excuses just to send me away?
Why would he want me back in his palace?
Is he crazy? I get it. I think he's not on his right mind.

" Pasensya na pero hindi ako sasama sayo. I have a place to stay in AltaFrancia."
Lalagpasan ko na sana siya 'nung hinarang na niya mismo ang katawan niya.

" I insist. Ako ang mananagot sa kanya."

I looked at him for a moment before deciding.
" Call him."

He was confused.

" Just call him."sabi ko pa.

Kahit naguguluhan ay sinunod naman niya ako. Kinuha niya ang cellphone at tinawagan si Valentine.
'Nung sumagot ito at inilahad ko ang palad ko para ibigay niya sa'kin ang phone.
" Valentine.."bungad ko..

" Princess.."he instantly recognized my voice.
He wasn't even surprised why it was me who answered.

" I'm not going to stay in the palace. You don't need to have someone fetch me. And how did you even know I'm here?"

" Your father told me about it. And he knows that you will be staying at the palace."

So my father already knew. That makes sense. Imposibleng gusto akong bumalik ni Valentine pagkatapos niya akong ipagtabuyan pabalik sa Britain noong nakaraan.

" Wala akong balak na tumira sa palasyo."

You despise me anyway. I would be insane to live with him again.

" Do you hate it so much, princess?"
Sandali akong natigilan 'nung naging iba ang tono ng boses niya.
I couldn't answer dahil pinipigilan kung may lumabas na salitang pagsisisihan ko.

" Or was it because I hurt your feelings?"

Naikuyom ko ang kamao ko sa inis. I don't know why but something clicked inside me.

I tried to calm down and brushed him off.

" Mananatili lang ako sa palasyo dahil iyon ang gusto ng ama ko."iyon lang ang sinabi ko saka binaba na ang tawag.

I really expected that I would not cross paths with him again. I really did.
But maybe we are ill-fated to see each other again. I think Valentine is my nightmare.

Malapit ng mag-gabi nang dumating ako sa palasyo. An hour later will be the start of classes so I guessed I'll have to change into my uniform. But I need to talk Valentine first.

" I'll see you in class." iyon ang sabi ni Tres saka nagpaalam.

Nasalubong ko si Gabriel when I entered the palace. He saw me. I thought he'd ignore me but he stopped, so I stopped too.
" I hardly recognized you. Welcome back."he said, as he also noticed my new look.

" Salamat."sabi ko.

" How are-I mean, y-you're fine, right?"

It was the first time I saw him struggling for words.

Tumango ako. " I have to be."

He didn't say much but it looks like he wanted to say so many things. He just nodded until there was silence between us. I didn't know why it felt awkward.

" Samson!"
Mabuti na lang ay dumating si Friday na siyang bumasag sa katahimikan. He just came out of nowhere and he hugged me.

Agad ko naman siyang naitulak sa sobrang gulat ko.
" Was that really necessary?"

" Alam mo bang alalang-alala ako sayo? 'Nung nasa Britain ka at nagluluksa, ni hindi man lang  kita nasamahan. Damn those rogues!"he said as he approached again.
" I couldn't go because I had to deal with them. I'm sorry. But now that you're here, let me make it up to you.. Anyway, why did you cut your hair? Nevermind, what do you want? Are you hungry, are you sad? Do you want to cry?"

" Friday-"

" What do you want me to do?"

Napabuntong-hininga ako.
" I'm fine. Really. Hindi ba't oras na para sa klase?"pag-iiba ko ng usapan.

" Pupunta ka sa academy?"tanong pa niya.

" Why not? I'm still a student there."

" You're right but.."

" Let her be, Friday." rinig kong sabi ni Gabriel.

Friday did not take his eyes away from me.

" May problema ba?"tanong ko pa.

Then he smiled. " Nothing. Kung ganun pala sumabay ka na sa'min papasok. How's your father by the way?"

" H-he's still coping up but uhh.. I need to talk to Valentine. Nasaan siya?"

First things first.

I barged into Valentine's room. Siguro dapat talaga ay kumatok muna ako. Hindi ko alam kung bakit hindi iyon sumagi sa isip ko.
Kung ginawa ko, sana ay hindi ko siya maaabutang walang pang-itaas na damit.

I stood by the door, shocked. Hindi ko inaasahang mangyayari 'to. And it's so embarrasing.
I don't know why I had to be so daring to still be amazed by how his perfect body and bumps were carved, when I have seen other men topless before.

Sa kaisipang 'yun, umayos ako ng tayo. What's the big deal of seeing him topless, right?
" I- I'll wait for you outside." kalmado kong sabi, trying to hide the embarrasment.

Tatalikuran ko na sana siya 'nung magsalita siya.
" It looks like you can't wait to see me."

Agad ko siyang hinarap ulit.
" I'm not!"
He was starting to put on his uniform. He was buttoning them as he looks at me. I can't help but look away.

" Hindi kita maintindihan. 'Nung nakaraan gusto mo akong mawala sa AltaFrancia tapos ngayon- Bakit hindi mo nalang sinabi kay ama na pinuputol mo na ng kasunduan? Ano ba talaga ang plano mo? What do you want?"
I turned to him to see that he is now completely dressed.
" The engagement.. It shouldn't end yet." he said.

" Anong ibig sabihin 'nun?"

" Kailangan ko pa ng konting oras."
Tiningnan niya ako gamit ang mala-ginto niyang mata.

" Oras para?"
Ano ba talaga ang gusto niyang sabihin?

He sighed before walking towards me.
" You'll know." he said before grabbing my hand and pulled me out.
I am still processing what he said when he stopped by my room.

" Get dressed. We'll leave in 10 minutes." he said strictly before leaving me there.

Wala akong nagawa kundi ang lingunin ang papalayo niyang bulto.
I can feel that he is hiding something from me. But when did he ever tell me anything? Valentine will always be mysterious, like behind those golden eyes was someone who has full of schemes.
Reading him is complicated enough.
