Harry woke me up and I blinked while shaking my head. He had my arms, trying to calm me down. "He's going to- Harry," I gasped.
"Shh, Ken isn't here, Lou. Just me. We're far away from him." Harry pulled me close and I took a deep breath. "He won't find us out here, okay?"
I nodded and closed my eyes. "Sorry."
"You're fine, Louis. You're okay." Harry laid me back down since it was four in the morning. "I'm right here," he reminded me softly.
I closed my eyes and nodded against him. "You're right here," I mumbled through a yawn. I felt Harry run his fingers through my hair as I fell back asleep.
"You only talk to me," Harry told me. "Only trust me, okay? Ken shouldn't touch you, but if he does, tell me. Scream for me, I don't care. He's not supposed to."
"He wants me," I whispered. "He says he knows it's me, that he just had to figure something out." I looked at Harry and chewed on my lip. "I'm scared of him, Harry."
"I'll keep you safe. You know I'll keep you safe. And I'm not going anywhere."
Harry held me as I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was in a van, alone. I didn't risk talking, but I knew no one else was in there with me.
The van stopped and I held my breath. After a few seconds one door opened and closed, then I heard Ken open the back door to the van. I moved towards him quickly to avoid making him mad. He quickly took me to the cabin I spent many more years in, pretty much alone.
Ken barely fed me, but if I was good, I avoided getting hurt. Staying away from him as much as possible was my main goal.
"Louis? Louis?" My head snapped towards the doorway and I stopped breathing. Ken came into the room and I shook my head. "Louis, wake up."
My eyes opened and I grabbed Harry's arms, looking at him. Harry grabbed my face and kissed my forehead. "You're safe, I promise."
"You told me you wouldn't let him separate us," I whispered. "I'm not trying to hold it against you. I don't know why I even... Fuck," I groaned, turning my face away from Harry. I was going to fuck this all up. I always fuck it up. I have since I was a kid.
"Louis, there is nothing wrong with telling me what you remember. It killed me when I woke up and you weren't anywhere to be found, especially when you told me you knew he wanted you." I looked back at Harry and he ran his fingers through my hair. "I had to make sure the other kids got somewhere safe, though. There were eight of them, and I couldn't let them wander on their own or drag them with me to find you. I hated it, Louis."
"But I'm here now," I whispered. I could see his anxiety climbing as he talked about it. "I'm here now and we're together and we're safe."
Harry smiled and nodded. "We're safe," he whispered, kissing my forehead again. "Hungry?"
"Starving," I answered with a smile. Harry nodded and got up, walking to the kitchen. The house was small, but it was good for Harry and I. We worked well in it. The bathroom was attached to our room, so I got up and walked in there, closing the door.
I took a second look at the door before locking it. I took off my shirt and looked at my body, chewing on my lips. I had been putting on weight. I wanted to be putting on weight, I was way too skinny before. I just hadn't been putting on too much more. You could still see my ribs clearly and I hated it.
I finally unlocked the door and walked to the kitchen, taking a deep breath while looking at Harry. "How much am I supposed to weigh?" I asked, picking at my lip.
"You're doing fine, Louis. There's no magic number. You'll know when you're happy," Harry answered as he looked back at me. "Why?"
"It doesn't seem like I'm putting on weight," I muttered. "I'm eating, and I hated how skinny I was. You shouldn't be able to count-"
"Louis," Harry called as he grabbed my face, stopping me from counting all of my ribs like I was about to.. "Don't. Don't do this to yourself. You are amazing and perfect however you are, okay? You're working out a little and you're eating good. You'll see it soon, I promise."
I nodded slowly after Harry kissed my forehead and let out a long breath while staring at him. I honestly don't know what I would do without him. He kept me sane when I felt like I was spiraling out of control. He helped me with every nightmare since I had been getting them. He does this. He reassures me. He treats me like an adult, not a child like everyone else (except my aunt) did. I didn't care of anyone else thought it was me being too dependent on him. I've been dependent on someone my whole life, it takes time to learn how to be on my own. "Thank you."
"Of course," he whispered back, kissing me before getting back to the bacon.
I watched him from the counter top and kicked my legs back and forth. He brought me over a plate of bacon and toast, and we both ate. "We can go to the doctor," Harry said quietly. "But there's going to be a lot of tests and questions about why you're so under weight, and once you're on a diet plan, they make you feel horrible for deviating from it. I would rather help you and let you get there then try to rush you and just hurt you worse."
I looked at Harry, nodding slowly. He smiled and cupped my face. "Good. Let me fatten you up in my own time." I couldn't help but laugh and Harry chuckled, kissing me. "I love you."
"I love you, too," I whispered. "I love you a lot, Harry."
The rest of the day was what we had done since we got here, we watched TV, cuddled, took a nap. There wasn't much to do, but I wasn't going to complain, either. I was happy that we were safe for the time being.
