~ Gabriella's POV ~

1 month later

"Matteo..." All I heard was a groan next to me in response. Letting out a tired sigh I turned over in the bed - or attempted to since I was currently under Matteo's arm which was draped across my waist.

It took me a few tries before he lifted his arm enough for me to turn over but now I was just even closer to his face since he didn't think he should move away to give me some space.

"What happened to the pillows?"
At the sound of my voice he finally cracked an eye open for a second before he closed it again and tightened his grip on my waist. "They fell off the bed."

His morning voice was actually the best sound I've ever heard, but I would never let him know that.

"Really? All five of them?" He tiredly nodded his head while he kept his eyes closed, without saying a word to me. "So how did they manage to fall of the bed and you didn't?"

This time his lips tugged up into a smile before he just pulled me even tighter against his body and nuzzled his face into my shoulder. "Shut up."

Ha. He thought it would be that easy.

"Matteo stop it, why would you throw the pillows off the bed?" I tried to place my hand on his chest to put some distance between us but it didn't work. I was tiny compared to him.

"I don't like your freaking pillow walls, that's why. I'm tired of them."

He's such a guy.

"Look, you're the one who wants me to stay with you, I'm not sleeping in a bed with you without pillows between us."

Eventually he did move away from me ever so slightly, just so he could look at me when he spoke.

"It's not like we're going to do anything. We're just sleeping." Raising an eyebrow at him I nodded my head towards his body, to highlight the fact he was far too close to me.

"What do you call this?"

"This is all just friendly. I'm being a good friend."

Rolling my eyes at his response I placed my hands on his chest again to push him away and thankfully this time he did move away from me putting some distance between us. I watched as he rolled onto his back and threw his arm over his eyes, probably trying to go back to sleep again.

This last month has been one of the craziest months of my life.

Not much has actually happened and yet it has at the same time.

That day when I found out my mom has cancer I spent ages crying to Matteo and explaining to him what had happened and then telling him about my fragile relationship with my mom.

He ended up saying for two hours before he left me to go and deal with some business. But, as promised he came back again a few days later to help me pack some of my things to take to my parents house since I'm staying there now.

Ever since I moved into my parents house that weekend I've been seeing Matteo at least every few days, maybe some days consecutively. He's been there for me during all the tough times while I readjusted to being back home and back with my parents.
