~ Gabriella's POV ~

"I should probably go, it's getting late." I watched Matteo take his phone out his pocket to check the time, but then he started reading through some messages on his lock screen, and a frown settled on his face.

"Is everything okay?" At the sound of my voice his head snapped up. He glanced back down at the messages before nodding. "Y-yeah, it's just my brother. We had a fight earlier."

"Oh...so is he trying to make up with you?" For some reason he found my question really amusing. "Adrian? No way. He's just telling me to get my stuff from his house."

"You live with him?" He let out a tired sigh and stood to his feet as he grabbed his jacket. "No, he's having problems with his wife so Carlotta and I have been staying with him to keep him company."

"Oh." He nodded his head and took my hand pulling me up after he put his jacket on. "Everything is a mess right now."

"Just give him some time then make up with him." He let out a small chuckle and shook his head. "You're too nice. We don't really work like that. Sometimes we just get over things other times...not so much."

I followed him to my front door stopping when he turned around to face me again. We stood there awkwardly for a moment before I gave him a small smile. "So..."

"So, I'll talk to your bosses tomorrow and I'll make sure that nothing happens. Just go back to work on Monday as normal." Matteo seemed so sure of himself that he could get this sorted that I was actually starting to believe him.

"How are you going to do that?"

"I can be very persuasive if I want to be." He gave me bright smile before he spoke again, obviously noticing my skepticism. "Don't worry, I've got this."

"Thank you then - for your help." He nodded his head and stepped closer to me. "Any time."

I watched as he gently took my hand in his as he took another step closer to me. "Matteo."

"Let me know what day you're free this week." I narrowed my eyes at him when he ignored the warning tone in my voice at his proximity to me. "Why?"

"Our first date. As friends of course." He gave me his usual smirk, sending me a wink when I rolled my eyes at his comment. There's no way he was sticking to my friendship rule.

I let out a small scoff and pulled my hand out of his grip, only causing his smirk to widen.

"There will be no date Matteo. We're taking this slow, as friends." I watched as he walked down the hallway away from my apartment door, the sound of his laughter getting further and further away.

Eventually I shut the door when I could no longer hear the sound of his laughter and instead I cleaned up the box and spoons from the gorgeous cookie dough he brought.

I decided a few weeks ago that I would try and diet and cut out anything too sugary, only because I wanted to make sure what I was putting into my body was the best. Just for my health and well being.
But anyone who tasted this cookie dough would understand when I say I had to finish the whole thing.

I had to think of my future self. I didn't want to later regret not enjoying the second half of it because I was trying to be too healthy.

It's all about having a good balance.

At least that's what I've been telling myself since my diet started while I've still been having my daily portion of biscuits after dinner.

Once I'd finished tidying up my apartment I was just about to take a quick shower before bed when I heard my phone buzzing from across my bedroom. Dropping whatever was in my hand at the time, I did some kind of awkward jump across my bed knocking off a couple of cushions as I did. Making it just in time I grabbed my phone from my dresser across the room and hit answer without checking who it was first.
