~ Gabriella's POV ~
I had no clue how the hell I managed to get myself into these situations.
"So you can't do dinner today?" I shook my head apologetically at Dean who was just frowning at me.
"Something came up, I'm sorry. But we'll reschedule, I promise babe."
"Something? Or someone?" Dean rose an eyebrow at me while I just stared at him in confusion until he spoke again. "Why are you cancelling Gabriella?"
"Dean, I told you, something came up." All he did was stare at me for a moment with an intense gaze before he shook his head. "Whatever."
I watched as he took the coffee he ordered from the woman behind the counter before making his way out of the Starbucks we sometimes meet at if we have time during my lunch break. I didn't understand what the big deal was, we've rescheduled dinners before.
The lady behind the counter handed me my iced coffee and I quickly took off, making my way out of the coffee shop in the direction Dean went. Thankfully I was able to catch up to him but it didn't seem like he was walking that quickly anyway.
"Dean, wait! Why are you walking away from me?"
"Because you won't tell me where you're going today. I made an exception with you meeting that guy yesterday and you're probably meeting him again today, aren't you?"
My eyes widened at what he was saying before I took a step away from him, a scoff leaving my mouth. "You think you can tell me who I can and can't see?"
"I'm not trying to tell you who to see, Gabriella. Look, if I was meeting a girl at her house you wouldn't be happy, but maybe you'd allow it. If I did it again the next day and blew off plans with you, then you'd be pissed."
When he put it like that it did make sense, but I still wasn't happy with the fact he thought he even had a say if I saw Matteo or not.
"I get that, but you can't tell me who I can see Dean. Ever." Instantly I could tell what I said didn't sit well with him, and knowing the way he gets annoyed about things easily he'll probably bring it up again soon. Thankfully this time he didn't argue though considering we were in the middle of the street.
"Fine, look I need to go. I'll see you another time Gab." He leaned down and pecked my lips quickly before making his way towards the building he worked in, leaving me standing there watching after him.
I didn't even know what I was supposed to do or say. He hadn't asked me to be his girlfriend and he's already getting annoyed that I was seeing other people or just busy with someone who wasn't him.
The part I didn't get to say to him is that I would choose to spend time with Matteo right now over him anyway since I've been seeing Dean a lot over the last few weeks while Matteo was away. Now that Matteo is back of course I would spend time with him. Even if he's a guy and I'm a girl it doesn't mean anything.
Guys and girls can be friends without being in a relationship.
I went back to the salon, still thinking over that conversation with Dean while I got through my next few clients.
One of the perks of working in a salon is that when you have a need to dress up or look nice you can use your colleagues to do your hair for free whenever they have time. Which is what I do, all the time.
While my colleague Leah straightened my hair for the party later, I messaged Dean to make sure he was alright and that he wasn't mad or anything after the conversation we had earlier. It didn't take long for him to read the message but surprisingly he didn't even bother to reply.
