☆ Shackled Cinderella ☆
You cast her in a role and you trap her in it
You carve her out to be the cool girl
The tool girl
Who you can twist and turn to do your bidding
You trick her into believing
That the shackles are anklets
That slavery is privilege
But she realizes not
The damage you've all brought
The whole lustrous lot
But she desperately wants it
Oh, so passionately needs it
To be a part of you
So you wean her off the frequent favours
And get her on the chewables
Invite her for a party
And sure enough
She bites
So excited that she almost bites her tongue too
A little naive but trying to hide that truth
She drinks herself silly
Thinking maybe it'll hide her innocence
Maybe it'll hide her true pursuit
The pursuit of belonging
The pursuit of acceptance
The pursuit of the love
Her drunk father wouldn't give
And her suicidal mother didn't have
"If I could only be like you
Then
I'd be happy
Cause you seem like it too
You seem to be happy."
