One
I'm lost
Afraid
Hidden from sight
Huddled in a corner
In a constant night
Once it was different
Once I was free
Once, not alone,
There was another of me
A sibling
A brother
Forever with me
And together we'd travel
The whole world to see
Whole
Yes indeed
For that
I don't feel
A hole has appeared
Here in my heel
It started so small
I thought I'd ignore
It was nothing at all
But then it was
More
And my brother
He said
It would be okay
We'd always be one
He'd wouldn't go
Away
But the power
Wasn't his
The promise
A lie
And now
In the darkness
I ask myself
Why
But I know
In myself
It wasn't his fault
He wasn't to blame
For bringing us to a halt
It was the hole
It was me
I was tattered and worn
So now I'm alone
Discarded
Forlorn
And my brother
Is gone
Though I know not where
I only know
There are others to wear
So I'm here
And it's dark
Never again will I walk
For I
All alone
Am a single
Lost
Sock
