Mermaid
I've sought a mermaid all my life
for love upon the sea,
a pure and perfect romance
between the maid and me.
I dreamt of staring in her eyes
and drowning in her charms
and laying there upon the sea,
embraced in her soft arms.
I searched the world for twenty years
without the least success
and then again for twenty more,
despite the harsh duress.
At last I found my mermaid
and cursed my childhood wish,
she had two perfect legs below
and the top half of a fish.
