~MADDIE POV

"Study and remember this" Hendry threw a folder on the hard floor in front of me before he left the training room again.

I opened the folder, working on my way through it while drinking from my water bottle.
I closed the folder shut when I saw James entered the training room again. Quickly I stood up and brushed some invisible dust from my pants.

"Maddie you need to focus more" James reloaded his gun, handing it to me once again.

It's been almost over a week and nothing much has happened. I was adjusting well, given the circumstances. I wasn't as shocked anymore about any of their business, instead, I grew used to it. Luca was on a mission together with some other members, so James was trying to train me in shooting a gun in the training basement.

Obviously, I never intended to kill anyone. It was just because we were bored and James thought that I should know how to defend myself.

I shot a couple of times, hitting the target but missing the red spot once again.

"You'll get the hang of it soon, don't worry" James took his gun from my hand when we heard a light chuckle behind us.

"Luca!" I turned around and ran into his arms, who was leaning on the wall right next to the door.

He was hesitant at first, but soon I felt him wrapping his arms around me, holding me tight.

"Let's talk somewhere more private" Luca grabbed my hand and led me upstairs.

He opened a familiar door to his office and softly pulled me inside. We were just staring at each other, not saying anything.

"Luca why didn't you come back that night?" my voice was quiet, almost like a whisper.

"Because it only took one look at you for me to figure you out, but at the same time you're so unpredictable" Luca's voice was quiet, too.

"Every good girl has a bad side and I awakened yours. You're a good girl that knows exactly when to be bad" he brushed a piece of my hair out of my face.

"The night I first met you I never expected any of this to happen. I came back from a mission, waiting for Jameson to pick me up"."I remembered you. You were always on the playground across the street from my old home. I liked watching how happy you were. I didn't want to get close to you because I didn't want to put you in danger. I'm tired of putting the people I love and care about in danger with me" Luca looked away for a second but met my eyes again when he looked back right at me.

"I was thinking about you at the most random times. I started to question how long you've been on my mind and I realised that you've been there the whole time. Since I met you, you never left my mind once" Luca's eyes were still locked with mine, my heart beating fast.

"You broke my heart. And that is when I realised that I'm in love with you Maddie" my breath stopped when my brain comprehended what Luca said.

Unexpectedly his hand moved to my waist and he pulled me closer, closing the gap between us. My body was pressed against his warm chest, while Luca's left thumb was caressing my cheek softly. His lips then moved closer, brushing mine innocently. When his lips pressed onto mine my whole world fell away. His kiss was slow, soft, passionate and comforting.

My body was limp against his and began trembling. Out of reflex, my hands reached Luca's neck, pulling him even closer so that there was no space left in-between us.

We slowly parted, his forehead resting against mine, both of us catching our breath.

"There is no way I'll let anyone take what's mine Maddie I-" his words were interrupted by a loud bang that was followed by a scream.

Luca was the first one to rush out of the office after getting his gun out, I followed him behind.

Smoke was covering the entrance hall, my lungs filled with the smoke. It took a few seconds for the smoke to clear the view.

Luca and Daniel, who was the second to arrive, both put their guns away and walked towards the boy laying on the ground, who was holding his right hand pressed onto his chest with his left hand.

Daniel was quick to react and inspected the bloody hand, covered in the residue of the gun powder, just like the rest of his body.

"What the fuck happened?" Luca kneeled next to Zach, who was pointing towards a box.
"It was just laying in front of the door I was curious" Zach was crying and having a hard time breathing.
He kept grunting from the pain when Daniel laid his bloody hand back onto his chest and ran to get some medical supplies.

Instead of inspecting the box or scolding Zach, Luca remained silent and held his left hand, giving it a light squeeze, when other members rushed into the hall, waiting for someone to explain what had happened.

We all didn't say it but we were sure it was Xavier's work.

Once I regained control of my body I walked over to the box, not touching it but hovering above it.
A cloth was covering the bottom. I picked it up carefully as I saw an envelope stuck to the bottom, addresses to no other than myself.

I opened it quickly, feeling Luca and the other members that just rushed into the hall watching my every move.

I opened the envelope carefully and pulled out a folded paper.
Unfolding it, a little something fell out.

My engagement ring.

As I read the note my breathing stopped.

"Happy now, Maddie? You know I don't take 'No' as an answer. This is just the beginning"
