She rubbed her eyes and got up, not too enthusiastically. She took a quick shower and put on her clothes.

After getting dressed, she packed a sketch pad, and a few pencils, along with the rest of her school stuff.

A lot had changed since she moved to Beacon Hills. For starters, she no longer had Elena to worry about. She still kept in touch with Kai and Caroline, but that was about it. Occasionally Damon would send a message, but very rarely.

She went downstairs to make some breakfast for herself and Jenna.

Y/N was flipping over the pancakes when Jenna came in looking very tired. She made a cup of coffee for herself and her niece and turned on the news to see what was going on.

"Here you go, Y/N." She said, handing her niece the cup. Y/N thanked Jenna and set the coffee aside while she worked on the pancakes.

"Whoa! Do you plan on going out like that?" Jenna commented.

"What's wrong?" Y/N asked.

"At least let me braid your hair! This is all about new beginnings"
Y/N rolled her eyes.

"Fine. You win! After three days of insisting I give in!"
Jenna laughed triumphantly. She drank her coffee as her aunt braided her hair. After some time, wich to Sophya seemed like an eternity, she looked in the mirror.

"Wow! I have no idea how you did that, but I'm going to have to take it off for soccer tryouts." Jenna sighed.

"Oh well, at least you'll look good for a while." They laughed until Jenna looked at the clock.

"Kid, your bus arrives in like, five minutes!"

Y/N ran upstairs and brushed her teeth and grabbed her books and gym bag and stuffed her gym clothes quickly inside, and grabbed a few extra pens like always, but not before taking a look under her bed to make sure her other large duffel bag was still there.

"Bye Jenna."

"Wait, let me wish you luck!" Jenna came down the stairs.

"Good luck Y/N! I'm very proud of you! I'm going to be out of town for the day, and I'm only coming back tomorrow afternoon, so here's some money because I don't think we have much to eat in the fridge. Have a great day!" Y/N hugged her aunt and took the money.

"Bye! Love you, Jen!" She said before running out.

She heard the bus stop in front of her house. She put the earbuds in her ears. They weren't playing anything yet, but she liked to use them just to discourage any conversation.
She got in the yellow vehicle and sat, making sure her gym bag took up the seat beside her. This bus was just like the buses in her home town. Full of noisy people and claustrophobic. Yes, she had moved into Beacon Hills a week earlier, but today she was going to her first day at the public High School.
