I opened my eyes.
I had hit my head very hard on a rock and I cut my arm painfully on a something that was on the street.
I saw it was a broken bottle of some alcoholic beverage.
The alcohol stung and I tried to remove the pieces of glass that were stuck in my skin, but I wasn't very successful. I heard Ace come towards me and start barking.
I just lay there and started crying. This hurt so bad. My vision was blurry, but I was able to see the silhouette of three people getting out of the jeep.

"Scott, this is why I always do the driving!"

"My bad! Is she dead?"

"Oh my god! Please don't be dead! Please tell me you're not dead. Oh, I'm going to be in so much trouble with my dad! Is she dead?" One of the boys said, very worried.

"Well if this is being, dead is like, it sucks." I said weakly crying out in pain as I tried, and failed to remove a shard that was stuck in my abdomen.

"I think the ability to use sarcasm is a good sign." The boy that had asked if I was dead commented.

"Shouldn't we like, just leave her here. Someone else will probably run her over, and she'll just bleed out, then it won't be our problem anymore." The girl said.

"Okay please tell me she's also being sarcastic," I said honestly concerned.

"No, but believe me, it's progress." The boy answered.

"Yeah, can someone get Ace, my dog?"

The girl got his leash and took him inside the jeep.

One of the boys suddenly came over and picked me up bridal style.

"Thanks," I said wincing in pain.

"I'm Stiles, by the way, and this is Scott, the one who ran you over and she's Malia," Stiles said.

"I'm Y/N."

"Is it okay if I ask you what you were doing stopped in the middle of the street?" Stiles asked.

"I was just... I thought I saw something." I said, remembering the eyes. Why couldn't I remember the rest? I must have hit my head very hard.

"Was it wolf-like?" Stiles asked.

"I don't know. It was just a pair of red eyes." I said trying to remember what it looked like. The atmosphere in the jeep suddenly changed to a very tense one.

"Stiles, I smell blood." I ignored this sinister comment.

"Wait, weren't you two from the lacrosse team?" I asked indicating the two boys.

"Yeah, we are, and Scotty here is the captain, then his little apprentice puppy-boy is going to be captain after him. Anyways, who should we call? Do you have your parents number on your phone."

"No." I said the truth without thinking. Oh great. They were going to ask. Just lie. For some reason, I felt like lying, but I was in a lot of pain and couldn't think of a lie quickly enough.

"How don't you have your parents number?" Stiles asked.

"Because they want nothing to do with me, so I live with my aunt, who's out of town." I said weakly, in between fast and ragged breaths. This hurt so bad.
They looked kind of shocked at this but Scott finally spoke.

"Is there anyone we can call? A neighbour? A relative? A best friend?" I sighed

"I'm new here and my family hates me so much they live in a different state."

"Is there like anyone you know in this town?" Stiles asked.

"Umm, I do know some people from school, but-"
