Present

Reminiscing what happened with Josh yesterday morning and Eli today, I went to my mom's room. I didn't want to bother my friends, they were tired of yesterday's party and few of them still had bad hangover. We were busy with preparations everyday since few days now and all my friends were great help. Now Everybody deserved a break.

I was really worked up since I couldn't remember yesterday night and what was bothering Eli. I decided it was best to forget Josh for now.

Talking with Mom would definitely help calm down my nerves. I knocked on the door, I heard her saying 'coming' from inside and waited for her to open. As soon as she opened the door, she hugged me.

She was wearing glasses which meant she was reading. Her old habit that I picked from her. Both of us couldn't sleep without reading.

"Hey sweetie. Up so late?"

"Hi Mom, sorry to bother. I couldn't sleep."

"Not a bother sweetest. Come in."

"Mom, I'm a bit concerned. Eli seemed to be worried about something." I said sitting on her bed.

" Oh honey, it happens. Eli is going to be okay."

"I guess."

"I forgot to ask you, How was your bachelorette?"

"It was good. Had fun with my girlfriends. Have you checked in Ashley when she came? She came yesterday night."

"I did but You shouldn't have invited that girl to the wedding. I don't like her."

Here I wanted to speak with Mom about something serious and she was worrying about Ashley. Mom could be impossible sometimes.

Mom didn't like Ashley, But I didn't care. She would accompany me for Eli's boring office parties sometime. She was nice and easy girl. But my mom had this notion that Ashley liked Eli. Utterly Ridiculous!! She had a boyfriend Ryan- smart, tall even better looking than Eli. Why would she bother?

"Mom, not again. Eli and Ashley are just colleagues. Besides she has a boyfriend."

"Sweetie, you are so naive. You have always been so simple. You didn't even know that Josh and Eli both were in love with you since high school. You spent all your time with them and didn't even have a clue. You think you will be able to tell now what Ashley thinks?"

She was basically calling me dumb and stupid, but with love and not in so many words. Rather than calming my nerves, she was jumping up and dancing all over them, pulling her psychiatrist persona on me.

I took a deep breath.

I told her calmly," Josh and Eli were just friends in those times. Nothing else. I had crush on Josh for a while but Josh liked that stupid Shona in high school. Now at this moment, for all I care, he could marry her and have her beautiful kids."

She just shook her head and looked at me, her deep brown eyes piercing me. Hell she could read me like a book. And I didn't want to think about Josh now. And at the same time, I remembered what happened yesterday. Uhhh, I hated his guts for kissing me. I didn't want mom to know about the kiss.

It was all her's and Eli's fault. If they hadn't asked Josh to be here, he wouldn't be. I couldn't believe Eli for having Josh as his best man, after all that happened between me and him. But then again I knew Mom and Eli wouldn't leave him out on such an important day of our life. Josh was important to both of them, and to me as well whether I admitted it or not.

I let out a sigh.

"Can he really?" She asked snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Can who really what?"
