To Make Her Mine

There was a knock on the door. I turned back and saw Eve, pale and clutching door for support as if she was going to faint. I rushed towards her.

Just as she was going to fall, I held and steadied her.

"Eve, Are you okay?"

She was pressing her hand to her forehead, her eyes closed. She wasn't unconscious but not fully conscious either. I took her in my arms and gently placed her on the sofa opposite my desk.

"Josh, what is Eve doing here?"

I ignored Mia and asked her for glass of water. Eve opened her eyes and smiled meekly looking at me.

Mia passed me a glass of water.

" Eve, please drink some water." Putting my arm behind her back, I supported Eve in sitting position and made her drink water. Eve looked pale and about to faint. My heart lurched inside my chest. Eve was Perfectly fine this morning, I said to myself. I was getting worried. I checked for my mobile. But I couldn't find it. I might have forgotten it in meeting room.

"Mia please call Natasha and ask her to contact emergency."

"No ,I'm fine. I had this splitting headache and I lost my balance." Eve said holding my hand, keeping other hand on her forehead.

"Eve you don't look fine. What happened? I never saw you faint before."

"Nothing really Josh. I think I had low sugar. I guess that's why my head was paining and I felt dizzy all of a sudden."

"Have you eaten anything?"

"I didn't have lunch, I was not hungry." She said making a guilty face.

"Eve, just lay down for sometime." Eve leaned back on the sofa.

Another knock came on the door and it was Natasha. I felt sudden relief after seeing Natasha. She had brought coffee for us. She kept the tray on my desk. Seeing Eve on the sofa, she rushed towards sofa and looked in panic at Eve and then at me.

"Is mam okay? She looked really pale, I asked her if I could do anything."

"Natasha can you call the emergency?"

"No please Josh. I'm fine really."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'm sure."

"Natasha, can you get Eve something to eat? "

"Sure, sir. I will be back in a minute."

Mia was silent which was unusual. She looked surprised and bothered to see Eve. Kevin hadn't told her then and I didn't have time to tell her about it myself. It had been a real busy day today.

"Uhhh.. Josh what is she doing here?" In a perplexed voice, Mia asked.

"I.. I came to see Josh. Sorry if I interrupted anything." Eve said.

"No Eve you didn't. Mia could you please ask Natasha to get something to eat fast. " I wanted Mia out of the office. Her tone of voice and body posture was suggesting that she didn't like Eve being here right now. And I didn't have time to mull over why and what. Right now all that mattered was lying on the sofa in front of me.

"Josh you just asked Natasha that yourself. She will bring. Have some patience." Mia said in irritated voice folding her arms in front of her chest. I was about to snap at Mia for being insensitive but Natasha came back with some chocolates and protein bars.

Thanking Natasha, I gave it to Eve to eat.

"Eve, eat this."

"No Josh. I will be fine."
