Bri made some plans for coffee to keep my mood light , I had almost finished up the work. I had some free time when she called and asked so I said okay. It would be good to have some fresh air and good morning coffee.

I didn't get proper sleep yesterday. I kept thinking but My memory hadn't helped me. Eli was asleep when I went to talk to him. His face was so calm that I couldn't wake him up. Happy to see him at peace, I came back to my room and grabbed a book to read.  Someone knocked on my door. Thinking it must be Bri, I got up and opened the door but saw mom instead.

"Hey sweetie."

"Oh hey Mom. What's up?" I asked looking surprised.

"You were expecting someone else?"

"Yeah mom. Bri n I are going for some coffee."

"You will get coffee in the resort."

"Mom you know I need some air."

"Still tensed about Eli? Did Eli say anything to you."

" Not a big deal really. He was sleeping. His face looked so calm. I didn't wake him up. I will talk to him after he gets up."

" Good. You seem to have finished all the work."

"I'm glad we chose Megan. I don't have any work left, she looks after everything."

Megan was just awesome. She would get anything done just with a phone call. I had already decided I would recommend everyone to have Megan as their wedding planner in the future.

"Sweetie, I came here to tell you . We are having lunch. you, me, Eli and Josh. Just for old times sake."

What the...? My heart pounded in my chest. A shiver ran over my body.

"Mom, what were you thinking?"

"Sweetheart, I want you to be back to being friends with Josh. He is part of our life. I miss him so does Eli."

"I know Mom but can we do it some other time after the marriage maybe?"

"Eva it's been more than 3 years now. Josh is alone and you know that. He doesn't have family."

"Mom his parents are alive."

"You know what I mean. We were always the family he had. Besides I don't want your marriage to be awkward."

"Mom I know. I tried but I can't get over what he did. I trusted him."

" I know sweetie but people make mistakes. Josh will never hurt you on purpose."

"Mom, He cheated. And I don't know why he isn't married to that girl yet. Maybe he was always frightened of commitment and not just to me but to anyone."

I never told my mom the reasons for our breakup. I said I would tell her when the time was right but it never came up. And after I started seeing Eli, it didn't matter.

Mom took a deep breath. She came closer.

Placing a palm on my cheek she said,
"Eva, I don't think Josh will cheat on you. He loved you. I have talked to you and I have talked to him. And I feel there's a huge misunderstanding between you two. You need to clear it. Or you won't move on."

For a moment, I wanted to know why he did what he did. But He didn't even ask me once what was wrong. And what about cori? Cori suffered coz Josh didn't listen to me. It was too painful to think about that.

" Mom, it doesn't matter now. I'm getting married."

She let out a sigh. "Okay let's not talk about past. But I still want you two to be able to be in a same room without being awkward. Do it for Eli's sake, okay?"

I nodded.

"Mom, I will try. But it's just so difficult that he didn't even care once."

Mom's face was different now when she looked at him like I had tried all her patience she had with me, " This is such a wrong time for me to say this to you, Eve. I don't want to upset you but now enough is enough."

She took a deep breath and continued," You know Eve, you are stubborn like me and I was proud of it but now I think you should have been less strong headed than you are. I wish you could see beyond what you presume and then only you can see Josh the way he is."

She went off before I could say anything. I couldn't believe she would take Josh's side after what I have been through. I started feeling dizzy. Taking the support of the bed, I sat down.

I didn't know how much time passed but I was just sitting there on my bed without moving. Brianne entered the room all cheery.

Seeing me flustered she went numb. I was about to cry when Mom left and seeing Brianne I just let out what I was holding for 3 years.

She came to me and hugged me. I found some solace in the fact that someone was here to embrace me.

"Hey honey, what's wrong?"

I told her what passed between me and Mom.

" I'm so sorry Eve. Can I do something for you. Maybe get an ice cream. Ice cream heals broken hearts. Or I have stripper's number."

"Haha very funny, Bri."

" Atleast I made you smile. you are getting married you should be happy not brooding babe."

I smiled again and Bri relaxed beside me.

"Bri, can we get a coffee. My head is throbbing and I didn't have my coffee."

"Okay let's go darling."

I picked up my purse and we started walking towards cafe. It was just 10-15 minutes walk. I wasn't used to Bri being silent.

"Eve, is everything okay with Eli?"

"I don't know Bri but why are you asking?"

"Nothing, I just saw him talking to Ashley and it felt weird."

"Weird how?"

"They were sitting at bar. I didn't hear what they were discussing but it seemed intimate."

"Do you think he is having cold feet?"

"I'm not sure but I don't want you to get all tensed. Eli loves you very much and I believe you two will be very happy together."

"I hope so too." But my mind was somewhere else. I kept thinking about what my mom said about Josh. She understood people really well. Had I been wrong about Josh after all?

"Eve,are you okay?"

"I'm not okay Bri. I'm not okay at all."

"I can't believe Bridget will bring out this now. But we know her. She wanted something out of it."

"Yeah she wanted me and Josh to be able to see eye to eye."

"Isn't she right Eve? He is part of your life. You have to be on right terms with him."

I rubbed my fingers on my forehead. Bri looked at me concerned. She put her hand on mine and squeezed it a bit.

" You know, babe. what will help. Flush it out. Get it out of your system. You have been holding it for so long. Have you even talked to anyone about it?"

"Shouldn't you be telling me to concentrate on wedding?"

" A good friend will tell you that. But I'm not a good friend am I? I'm your best friend and I think you should throw it behind you and start new life without anything pulling you behind."

All the guests would be coming by the tomorrow night for rehearsal dinner. Bri was right I needed to take it all out. Let it go for last time.

It was time to face my demons.
