To Make Her Mine

I couldn't sleep. Not tonight. I was so charged that I could go for a run right now. Sitting up, I took a pillow to rest my back. Eve wasn't sleepy either, she turned towards me. Resting her head over her hand, she asked,"Not sleepy?"

"Not at all."

"So what shall we do?"

"How about hot chocolate?"

"I love the idea."

We got up and went to the kitchen. Eve started making hot chocolate while I got an idea so I excused myself. I grabbed few blankets and candles.

"What are you doing?"

"Not me. We. We are Lighting up some candles by the poolside and taking hot chocolate there."

"It's cold out there."

"So? What's your point?" I said and looked at her raising an eyebrow. She shaked her head and said," you have lost your mind."

I dropped the blankets and moved close to Eve. Holding her by the waist I pulled her close. I kissed her lips and hugged her.

"You make me lose my mind." I whispered in her hair. She smiled even though I couldn't see her face, I knew she did.

Moving away from her was difficult but I did it anyway. I touched her nose and grabbed blankets again.

"You get the cups out okay."

Near the poolside, I laid one blanket and lit candles few feet apart. This was getting old, next time I wanted to do something even better than this. But I thought about this in just few seconds, so I guessed it was okay. While coming I noticed red roses in vase in other room. I went back inside the house, grabbed the whole bunch and laid the petals on the blanket and some on the path.

I was in pajamas and tee. When Eve came out in the garden, she was wearing a tee and shorts. We both were going to die here in the cold. It was month of September but it used to get cold in the night. But tonight was colder than usual. What was I thinking? But now I wasn't backing out. I would bring few more blankets if needed.

Sky was clear, full of stars. Breeze was cold but it was pleasing. She brought two cups of hot chocolate with Oasis. It was just like old days. She noticed the petals and stopped Midway.

"Wow, candles and petals. Someone did a great job here."

"Well I try, this was supposed to be a date but this is all I could manage." Putting the tray on the side table, she came to me and gave me a hug.

"Who are you and what have you done to my Josh?" She said kissing me.

My Josh? I could tease her but right now I wanted to imprint this night in my memory because so far everything was perfect.

"Is it good?"

"Are you kidding? I love it. It is perfect."

And I remembered when I gifted her necklace, she was more happy tonight. Eve wasn't into material things. She would be happy with small gestures. I would keep this in mind. I took her hand asking her to join me on the blankets. Once we both sat down, I put another blanket over and moved closer to her. She handed me a glass of hot chocolate and took one herself.

"Is it okay? I can bring more blankets if you want."

"No it is good. Actually I'm feeling good here."

In the cold, having Eve beside me with hot chocolate was a bliss. She looked up and said," It's beautiful isn't it?"

I was looking at her and I said," yes. Beautiful." She was looking radiant in the candle light , her eyes twinkled and had a spark that made my heart jump.
