To Make Her Mine

Mrs Fermiga made breakfast for us. I started working on my laptop. Eve started giving me details of her with over the breakfast. Marces wanted Eve to get a project done for an international client. Her work till now mostly included presentation, but Marces asked her if she was looking for a role of senior manager which meant she had to look after a team of 10 people. It felt intimidating to her but I was sure she could handle it.

"You had a text." I said as I passed her phone ,I had forgotten that her phone was still lying beside me on the sofa. She took the phone and checked. She hadn't told me about Eli. I kept observing her, why didn't she tell me about Eli yet. I kept wondering. She looked deep in the thought and then in a moment, she jumped to her feet and went inside. She came back after a minute with a paper bag. She sat on the sofa adjacent to mine.

"Ummm... Josh I have to tell you something." She said in a low voice. I moved closer to her, my eyes full of mischief. I wanted to kiss her, maybe take her to bedroom for another love making session.

"Nothing like that." She whispered again when she understood my intention.

"Then why are we whispering?" She slapped my knee.

Mrs Fermiga called us out, "coffee is ready."

"Eve?"

"Oh sorry. Were you in the middle of something?"Mrs Fermiga asked.

"Oh no. That's okay. " She said , " we can talk over coffee."

Clearly she wanted to talk, but not in front of Mrs Fermiga. We had coffee while resuming the discussion about her project, when my phone rang. It was my mom calling. She had wanted to come to Chicago for some work, she had told me on the last call we had couple of days ago.

"Okay I will arrange a room for you in the hotel nearby."I said to Mom on phone.

"What are you talking about?" Eve asked.

"Just a sec, Mom," I put a hand on mobile speaker and said," Mom is coming to Chicago for some work."

"And why would she stay at hotel?"

"Coz we are living here."I said Like that was the simplest thing.

"All the more reason for her to come here and stay with us."

"That would be..."

Eve cut me off." I'm not asking or suggesting, I'm telling." Bossy much.

"Mom I guess you heard it all." She was laughing. Everyone was on team Eve nowadays. What happened to team Josh?

"Oh finally someone to put you on leash." Mom said still unable to control the laugh.

"She always had Mom. " I said giving an admiring look to Eve.

Promising mom that I would pick her up from the airport when she would land after two days, I said good bye.

Eve narrowed her eyes. " What was that you said?"

"Nothing really." I said grinning.

"Mr Anderson tell me now. Or.."

"Or..?" I challenged her.

"Or I will not tell you what I have got for you."she said showing me off the paper bag which clearly belonged to a gift shop.

"You got something for me?" I was surprised.

"Why not? when you can gift me, I can do too."

"Show me." Eve got so excited that she forgot that we were arguing just a second ago. She opened the paper bag and passed me a gift box. I opened it with curiosity, Eve was observing me.
