So, first things first, canon interaction.

Russia and America have a very complicated relationship in the series, and the only thing I can personally infer from this is that they have a rival dynamic, very similar to FrUK (or UKFr if you're cultured.) Which is also the reason why FrUK shippers like Rusame. Also to be noted, they have been nice to each other at times though I'm still confused as to whether gifting each other protection (uk what I'm talking about, right?) is a nice gesture. But they are still rivals. America probably fears Russia, even though the little snowman only wants to be friends (and maybe pound America's face into dust.)

Second: IRL relations

Let's not talk about this. Too problematic, and again, confusing. One moment they be trying to be friends, next moment, the countries 'cause a fruking war. That was very cold on their part towards the others, wasn't it?

Third: Problematic?

TBH, I'm not sure how old Russia is. But compared to most ships, age wise, it's okay. One of the better America ships in this fandom, it would be way more popular if they weren't being stupid irl. (Okay, they like communism, you don't need to interfere, America.)

Side note: the fandom is AMAZING when it comes to Rusame, they don't cause ship wars and only engage in an actual fight only if someone insults them. That's nice. also, the number of memefics and memeart is huge, and these guys have culture.

AND I DON'T EVEN SHIP THIS, SO YES, YOU RUSAME SHIPPERS ARE LUCKY.
