Newsie: Skittery

Time Period: Modern AU

Backstory: So this is for my Latina sisters out there, this specific one is meant for those who are Latina. Enjoy! Basically, Davey decided to take some of his friends down to Texas for the summer to visit his favorite cousin (You!) and they're caught off guard when they realize he's part Latino. I'd like you to imagine that you're Latina in this story.

TW: mentions of abuse, sexual assault

My beautiful readers, please be careful wherever you go as there are people in this world that have no regard for another person. Know that there are support groups if you need help or someone to lean on. I don't know any of you personally, but I want you to be safe and happy. Every single life is precious. You are STRONG. You are BRAVE. You are a SURVIVOR. You are LOVED. God loves each of you, no matter what.

Btw, I won't be using their Newsie name, so I included a key so that y'all can remember who is who:

Skittery--> Devin Ashford
Mush --> Michael Meyers
Crutchie --> Charlie Morris
Jack --> Jack Kelly
Davey --> David Jacobs

"Why did I sign up for this," questioned a sleepy Devin as he got the passenger side of the car. He looked over at his best friends as they also got to the doors.

The tall one looked over at him with a smirk, "Because you owe me for dragging me and Charlie all the way to Mount Rushmore for no reason, Ashford." Rolling his eyes, he got into the car along with his friends who were snickering at him.

Charlie gave his brother a smile, "Come on Devin, it can't be that bad. I mean, Texas can't be as hot as they say it is."

"Exactly," pipped up Michael, "We have hot summers in New York, we can definitely handle Texas."

"So much for not being too hot, huh Charlie," a miserable Devin commented as he got out of the car in Davey's hometown.

The sweaty boy looked at his friend with a grimace, "I should've kept my mouth shut."

Once they were all out, the guys except Davey looked around to take in their surroundings. The large two-story farmhouse looked like it needed a new coat of paint as well as a good window cleaning. A cow that mooed in the distance caught their attention. They took their eyes off the house when they saw a couple of horses near the fence that separated the house and its lawn with the field.

"Holy crap, Davey," said a mesmerized Jack, "You forgot to mention that your grandma owns some horses man."

"Davey," whined a very tired Michael, "Please tell me your folks have AC."

"Would you guys stop whining and help me out with the luggage?" Davey had already gotten two of the suitcases out when all five of the boys heard a door open and close. Then a girl ran towards them, excitement filling her eyes.

She immediately headed towards to the tallest one in the group, and she didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around him. "Oh my gosh, it's so nice to see you again, Davey!"

Her cousin laugh as he hugged her back, "It's good to see you again, Lorita. Y tu mamá?"

The other boys gave Davey with puzzling looks.
