The first week of Hogwarts wasn't as bad as Artemis had predicted, but it was rather boring. In her first week, she had successfully taken more notes than ever, gained five house points, and learned zero spells.

Lessons were dreadfully boring since they were mainly just note taking so she played hang-man and tic-tac-toe on a spare piece of parchment with Pansy or in some cases, Malfoy.

Even though it was barely the first week, their Professors had assigned a fair set of homework each night, especially for Transfiguration.

Charms class with Professor Flitwick, a tiny man with an abundance of love for his subject, was the most exciting and in Artemis's opinion, the most useful. It was the class everyone looked forward to since they were able to perform actual magic. By Friday, Artemis had successfully charmed her pinecone to spin like a top.

Unlike Charms' lighthearted demeanor, Transfiguration was much more serious but just as interesting. So far there was no hands on work yet, just note taking and annotating. To no one's surprise, Professor McGonagall took her job of teaching the new generation very seriously and was the teacher to assign the most work.

Potions was only slightly less serious than Transfiguration but that was only because Snape had a high bias towards the Slytherins, making their life easier by not harassing or bullying them. The Gryffindors had very few kind words to say about Snape.

Defense Against the Dark Arts seemed like a fascinating subject from the outside, but when Artemis actually stepped foot into the garlic smelling classroom, she found it excruciatingly exhausting. Professor Quirrell seemed to be an all right man, just not an all right teacher. He seemed to have the right idea on the subject just never knew how to phrase his lessons correctly so he mainly made them read from the textbooks. It was pretty boring.

History of Magic was just as dull as the rumors said it was. Professor Binns, the professor who taught the subject, as a ghost and didn't seem quite as dedicated to his job as some of the other professors. Artemis supposed that if Professor Binns didn't have such a drawling voice, she'd be much more interested in the subject.

Pansy on the other hand, absolutely loved going to History of Magic.

She wasn't bad at the subject and somehow always got Professor Binns sidetracked when he was trying to teach.

Due to Pansy's natural cockiness and arrogance, she made sure to pester Artemis the entire week about the History of Magic.

"You haven't gotten Binns' work done yet, Krii?" Pansy exclaimed on the way down to breakfast. "But it's so easy! Even I got it done in class!"

"I know it's easy, Parkinson, I just have McGonagall's work to do." Artemis told her. She prayed someone, anyone, even Harry Potter would be down at the Hall so she could get away from Pansy's constant boasting about History of Magic.
