The letter Artemis had received after the incident with Potter was beyond furious, threatening to expel Potter at once and fire Gilderoy Lockheart. Twice that week, Artemis had to send letters back to her mother explaining in detail what had actually happened.
Artemis was clearly unnerved by her mother's sudden outrage and threats, but said nothing out loud. She had spoken privately to Professor McGonagall about Potter's consequence but she assured her sternly that Potter will be going without a punishment and that Professor Dumbledore had already written back to Levana.
Unlike Potter, who did not get a private meeting with Professor Dumbledore, Draco did. He was being so skittish about the upcoming meeting, Artemis figured it was in his best interest that she accompany him.
By the time said meeting was over, Draco informed her that he had received a week's detention with Professor McGonagall. Compared to the cruel and unusual punishment they got when they were first years, this detention was nowhere near as bad.
Artemis's fuse was growing short with Draco and Potter, along with everyone else. Whether it was in the corridors or the Hall, Draco was always finding a way to get under Potter and Weasley's skin. Poor Artemis had to literally get an iron grip around Draco's robe sleeve to pull him away.
"I agree with your mother. Saint Potter, it's a miracle how he's not expelled yet. I can not believe I had to talk with Dumbledore and not him! It's so unfair." Draco raged, lounging on the couch lazily.
"You can't go blaming Potter for all your problems," Artemis said calmly, peeking up from her book, "It was Snape who told you to fire that spell. It's not your fault."
Draco crossed his arms and thought about Artemis's statement.
"Don't forget, he did stop the snake from attacking me." Artemis added.
"Stop reminding me." Draco groaned, "He probably only did it to make himself look good for his 'ickle fan club he shares with Lockheart."
Artemis scrunched her nose in disgust and lost track of the previous sentence she was on.
"That man's name is worse than You-Know-Who's." she huffed.
"D'you think Dumbledore knew what he was doing when he gave Lockheart the job?"
"I don't think so."
Tip, tap, tip tap.
The sound of rushing footsteps got louder as they approached the couch. From the top of her eye, Artemis saw Pansy, red in the face and slightly sweating. Millicent Bulstrode was by her side, looking equally as flushed.
"Alright there, Parkinson?" Artemis set her book down.
"Someone's gotten petrified!" Pansy heaved, using Millicent as support.
