Jade's P.O.V.

I run over to Autumn and embrace her in my arms. She hugs me back tightly and Crystal joins in.

I pull away and look her straight in the eye, "I thought you were dead."

"Why would you think that?"

"Because of our bond. I could no longer feel you or sense you."

"I guess I should have told you, but the bond fades the closer I get to my birthday and then it disappears completely. I no longer need you to develop my abilities." Autumn tugs a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Does this affect the way you feel about me, now that you no longer need me?"

"Nothing in this world could ever affect the way I feel about you." She says, grabbing my chin between her index finger and thumb, pulling my mouth towards hers. Our lips connect and a sense of euphoria takes over. Her tongue graces my bottom lip and I open my mouth. Our tongues dance to an imaginary beat.

Crystal clears her throat and Autumn and I break away from the kiss, smiling.

"Sorry Mrs Reed," I say looking at my feet to hide my blush.

"Let's go home," Crystal motions to the door.

Two steps are taken towards our freedom when we all stop dead in our tracks.

Orin is standing in front of the door. He opens it and waves his hand for us to exit, like his some type of gentlemen or something. Crystal is the first to exit, never taking her eyes off Orin. Autumn follows and Orin's thin lips spread even thinner as a smile forms on his face.

"You've taken your natural Fairy form, which means a happy birthday is in order, and with that you can now join me in our world."

Orin watches me leave the shop, "I see your mother and father we're smart enough to fake the date of your birthday."

I scrunch my face together, not sure what his harping on about.

"I know we had a deal but I do not want anything to do with the Fairy World." Autumn says, looking Orin dead in the eye.

Orin's creepy smile is replaced by a sinister look. He grabs me by the arm and pulls me next to him.

"There is no backing out of our deal. I'm sure you would like to reconsider," he uses his free hand to motion at me.

"Let Jade go, this fight is between you and me," Autumn clenches her hand into a fist.

Orin sees her fist hanging next to her side.

"You foolish girl, you are no match for me, but I suppose we can duel, seeing as it is your birthday and if I kill you I will get all your powers."

Crystal jumps in front of Autumn, "You will never lay a hand on her."

"Move out of the way, my darling daughter, you heard what girl said, this fight is between me and her." Crystal doesn't move an inch.

Autumn places a reassuring hand on her mother's shoulder, making Crystal turn around to face her.

"I've got this mom."

"Autumn I believe in you, but if he somehow succeeds in killing you, he won't only get your powers, he will gain some of his youth back and he will lead the Fairies for another 100 years or so."

"I know you care about the other Fairies and when I defeat Orin, you can go back and be their Sovereign. And if you're half as good a leader as you are a mother, then they would happily accept you as such."
