10:14 AM, Infirmary

Sera's POV

Staring dead center at the lightbulb surrounded by the bland ceiling... I found myself laying at an infirmary bed, wondering how I should even carry on living like this

Is there really no other way?

Wake up. Go to school. Get beat up... and finish the day with nothing to look forward to

A dead end... an endless cycle, without any ways to escape

Since the first day I entered Wellston, I never hurt any students without a reason. In fact, the only times I did hurt someone, was because they hurt John first

Besides that, all I did since I came here was minding my own business and study. So why? Why are all people in this world so rotten? Why does the society work like this?

Or maybe it's because they didn't care who I was back then... It's all solely because I'm a high-tier that they feel the need to treat me like this...

*sigh* what am I even thinking about...

I was too absorbed in my own thoughts that I didn't realize my wounds and injuries had already been healed by Doc's tonics

Huh? Is the effect hitting faster or was I not imagining things?

I suddenly heard someone opening the curtains near me

"How is your wounds? Is it already healed?" Asked Doc

"Yeah... It's faster than ever. How long has it been? 10 minutes? It's really impressive Doc"

"Thanks. I've actually been really working hard on it. I'm gonna make some coffee... Just lay there for a bit more, and you can go back to your class"

...

It's so boring without having a phone... Should I really buy a new one?

But there's no guarantee that it won't be destroyed again by the other students

I wonder what he is doing...

I'm sure that his suspension wouldn't be as boring as my suspension that I had. His dad is actually easy to get along with unlike my strict parents

My parents... They might literally disown me if they learn the fact that I'm now powerless.

*sigh* Does Doc really now how to restore my ability?

The next night... 8:32 PM, Somewhere in a park

Doc's POV

Sitting on the same lonely bench accompanied by a single street lamp at the park, I was waiting for Leilah to arrive. This time I was actually the one that first got here...

Bringing Tonics to a park... If people were to see me, I'd imagine it would turn out quite problematic. Seeing a man with some medicines alone at a bench at night IS shady after all...

"Darren... Have you been waiting too long?"

"No, not at all... Anyways Leilah, I brought what you asked for. The perfect Tonic for your little sister"

"*chuckle* You know you kinda look shady if it's out of context by someone's perspective right?" Asked Leilah sarcastically

"H-haha yeah, I know"

"....Thanks Darren"

"No worries. If anything, I find myself wanting to save Seraphina as well... She seemed to have it harder and harder the more she shows her face in the infirmary. It's kinda heartbreaking"

She didn't respond when I said those words, except the smile that she's giving. But in those smile... I can sense a bit of sadness as well

"But Leilah... If my tonics are able to restore Seraphina's ability, wouldn't it already be restored ages ago?"

"That isn't necessarily wrong... But what we have to do is actually inject your tonics into her veins" Leilah stated

"W-what? How come?"

"The heart is where abilities forms itself. And from the heart, the powers flows through the person's veins  to each of their body parts like electricity"

"Are you saying that Seraphina's veins is suppressed in some way?"

"Yes. It was the injection's doing. Her powers are just stuck somewhere after flowing from her heart. Her eyes are unable to glow, and unable to flow to other parts as well"

".... I see"

"If you only drink the tonics... It would only affect the blood inside you, not to say that the body would mistake some of the tonic as digestible food as well, making the effect unable to be at full potential" Leilah stated

"But... How are you sure that this would work?"

"To be honest... I'm actually still unsure as well. That's why I want to test this out at myself by suppressing my own powers"

"W-what?! Right now!?" I asked surprised

"This is the injection that can suppress one's powers. If you use this on me, I might end up unconscious for about 24 hours..."

"H-hold on... This is all happening too fast"

"Darren please... You said that Sera's expression gets darker the more she comes to the infirmary. Let me do this..."

L-Leilah suppressing her own powers? This is absurd! But, there's no other way to really know besides testing it on her. And it's not like there would be any volunteers to test this either. Should I do this?

"If you were to be unconscious for almost a day... then is it really a good idea to do it here at a park?"

"You're right... We should do it at my place"

"Y-your place?"
