A Letter of Promise

Still anxious with what happened earlier, Ria decided to take a bath and wash her worries away.

While drying her hair, her phone ring continuously. Ibinaba niya ang blower at dinampot ang cellphone. It was Fervs.

"Ngayon ka pa lang nakauwi?" Bungad niya.

"Nope. We had discussed something, I wasn't given a time to call you earlier." Paliwanag nito.

Ria pouted and continued the conversation.

"Discussed what?" She clicked the loud speaker button and put the phone down so she could brush her hair.

"Just some misunderstanding. What are you doing?" Nakaramdam si Ria ng pag aalala, ngunit binalewala na lamang niya at sinagot ang tanong nito.

"Drying my hair. How about you?" She hoped that Fervs will open up. But he didn't.

"Checking the inventory they did. Are you free tomorrow?" Ria's heartbeat doubled.

"What time? Magkikita-kita kasi kami nila bless bukas ng hapon." She honestly told her schedule for tomorrow.

"Saan kayo magkikita-kita?" Balik na tanong nito.

"Minalungao, after ko bumisita sa farm at sa Rest house." She answered.

"I'll pick you up tomorrow. Saan ang huling bisita mo? Sa farm o sa rest house?" Muling tanong nito na medyo nagpalito kay Ria.

"Why?" Tanging naisagot niya na patanong rin naman.

"We will go to minalungao too, the boys wants to have a good time before Amie and Ares will go back to Singapore." Sagot nito.

"Ah despedida, bakit mo 'ko susunduin e barkada nyo yun ah." Tanong niya, napabaling siya sa pintuan ng biglang bumukas ang pinto ng kaniyang kwarto.

"Titaninang, let's swim the sunset will be great." Bungad sa kanya ng pamangkin na naka boxers na may disenyo pa na spongebob.

"Are you busy?" Tanong ni Fervs, napansin na hindi na naka focus sa tawagan nila si Ria.

"Suddenly." Tipid na sagot niya na dinugtungan niya pa ng maiksing tawa.

"Okay, bye for now, I'll call again tomorrow. Amie wants to see you, she said that there's something she wanna talk with you." Sagot nito, naghintay ng ilang saglit at ng magpaalam na siya ay nagbaba rin ng telepono.

"Did your mom knows that we will swim?" Tanong niya sa pamangkin na naka kalong na sa kanya.

"Yes, mom and grandmommy are grilling barbecue at the backyard. Daddy is setting the table. They said that I should call you. So you should change your outfit tita." Natawa pa siya sa paliwanag nito, bumaba ito sa kanlungan niya at binitiwan ang kaniyang kamay.

"I will go down and tell them you're just changing clothes. Okay tita?" Napatangu-tangu nalang siya habang nakangiti sa pamangkin na hindi niya mahindian kahit kakaligo niya lang.

Bago bumaba ay sinagot niya ang cellphone na kanina pa nag-ri-ring. Inakala niyang si Fervs lamang iyon kanina, ngayong hawak na niya ay unknown number pala ang tumatawag. Sinagot naman niya ang tawag.

"Hello, who's this?" Bungad niya.

"Hi, Ria its Amie. I know the invitation is urgent, but if you are free tomorrow I wanna discussed something regarding our business. I told Fervs to tell you, but he said you two didn't have a clear conversation regarding my invitation. I asked for your number, I hope I am not being too rude." Nahihiyang paliwanag nito.

Amie is one of her elementary classmate, nakakasama niya ito sa mga hair fashion noon sa mga mall sa Nueva Ecija, nakasama rin niya ito sa isang commercial ng biscuit, they just moved to Singapore because her mom studied fashion designing which maybe the reason why Amie became into it too and they weren't able to become more close because of politics but they are close friends during 5th to 7th grade.
