It's dark... why is it so dark?
I tried to move my arm, but it won't budge.
My legs? Just a finger?
I can't move.
I try to open my eyes, but they won't open. That explains the darkness . . .
Why is everyone yelling? What's going on?
I felt a sort of jolt as the helicopter landed. How long have I been out? My eyes still refuse to open. I felt as someone wrapped an arm around me and lifted me up. Why can't I shucking move?!
Everything was sort of muffled. Like when you go swimming and get water in your ears. I couldn't quite make out what anybody was saying, but there were screams and lots of shouting. Whoever it was that picked me up handed me off to another person. I heard them say something as I was passed off, but I couldn't make out what it was.
Then whoever was holding me took off running. I swear, if this guy drops me...
"Teresa?"
I tried calling out to her, but I didn't get a response. Did something happen to her?! Why is this guy running like he's about to die? . . . Are we about to die?!
No, we were just rescued. There's no way we're about to die, right? The guys on the helicopter said everything was going to be okay . . .
Finally, after what seemed like forever, the guy carrying me came to a stop. I heard his footsteps differ. It was like he had started walking on cement all of a sudden. I felt as the air immediately was cooler. What the shuck was going on?
Everything was still muffled, but I could hear people talking. I felt someone's hand on my arm, but whoever was holding me immediately pulled me away from the hand. I felt their grip tighten on me a little bit. Was someone trying to take me away?
I tried again to open my eyes. To move my arm. To even just move one of my fingers. Just a little bit. But nothing worked. I remained still and consumed in my thoughts. Everything was slowly coming to me.
"She's not going with anyone unless we go with her," I heard a male voice say above me. It sounded like Minho. He must be the one carrying me. I was then passed off again.
"What's wrong with her?" I heard an unfamiliar guy's voice ask. He sounded farther away.
"She was shot," I heard the guy who now held me say. It was obviously Newt - his accent was a dead give away. "Only in the shoulder, but she passed out on the way here."
"It must be from the blood loss . . . she needs to be taken care of immediately," I heard the unfamiliar voice state.
Newt pulled me closer to his chest and tightened his grip a little.
"We're not leaving her by herself. We're going with her," Newt said firmly. I heard a few people mumble in agreement.
"We can't allow any of you in the operating room but we will allow one of you to wait with her in her room," he paused for a second. "You."
I heard Newt sigh.
"Girls with girls, boys with boys. How's that?" The voice said. I heard a few mumbles and okay's and stuff. I felt Newt walk forward and gently hand me off to someone else. He held onto my arm for a second and gave it a small squeeze. I then felt as the man began to walk away and Newt's hand fell from my arm.
Not gonna lie, I kind of didn't like that. I wanted him to be going with me, but based one what the other guy said about boys with boys and girls with girls, I figure Teresa was going with me. I did find some comfort in that, though. At least I would have my sister.
-I woke up later in a white room. I was in a big white hospital bed. I was wearing a hospital gown.
Great.
A hospital room.
I looked over at my shoulder. I lifted the sleeve of the gown and examined the bandaging. It hurt way less, they must have me on some painkillers or something. I hurt like hell at first. It was way worse than I thought it would be. The pain had been unbearable.
I fell asleep on the helicopter but I never knew if it was from blood loss, exhaustion, or just the pain. The white hot pain that I had felt... it was unimaginable.
I looked around and saw a small button on the wall.
Aha, the nurse button. I pressed it and waited patiently. And a few minutes later, a nurse came walking in. She had brown hair with blonde highlights. I only went to her shoulders and was curled. She was wearing blue scrubs and a white coat. She walked in with a weird pep in her step. She looked at me and smiled.
"Look who's finally awake! How're you feeling, miss y/n?" I looked up at her and smiled a little.
"I'm feeling better... I'm a little hungry, though."
She smiled.
"I can fix that, no problem. I'll be back in a few minutes."
At that, she turned and the door shut behind her. I looked around. There were three small chairs against the wall. My mind wandered to everyone else. Hadn't that other guy say that one of them could wait with me? He said girls with girls, so where's Teresa?
I eventually shook it off. She probably went to go get food or something. I looked at the big glass window to my left. On my right, there was a small counter with a sink and a few cabinets. There were a few jars with some things in them. Just Q-Tips, wooden sticks, cotton balls, and things like that.
The door swung open and the nurse came in with a tray. It had a plate full of food and a glass of water on it. I felt my face light up as she handed me the tray.
"Holy . . . Thank you!"
She nodded and smiled. She then turned the door and began to leave.
"Hey, wait!" I called out before she could completely leave. She turned to me and smiled.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, I just had a few questions."
"Well, I may have a few answers," she said as she leaned against the door frame.
"How long have I been out?"
"Two days."
Wow.
"Where are my friends? And my sister?"
"Your sister had to have a few more tests done. We can bring her here as soon as she finishes up, if you would like." I nodded and looked down at my food.
"And my friends?"
"Your friends are doing good. They should be..." she paused and checked her watch. "Heading to dinner right about now."
"Will I be able to see them soon?"
Her smile faltered just a tiny bit, but she immediately put her big smile back on. I barely even noticed it, to be honest.
"Later, miss y/n. Whenever you've mostly recovered. Which should be in a day or two, actually." She smiled and left the room. I just nodded and turned to my food.
I was starving.
