The captain and Kiana

Part 3: Chapter Five: The HQ

The hyperion docked and Theresa met the hyperion at the terminal. She looked anxious with dundral by her side who assured her "Everything will be ok. I'm sure they have everything under control." Theresa just sighed "I know it's...." She paused "It's just that if he comes back then what'll happen." Dundral just chuckled "Even if otto was alive he'd still let you be in charge. Why, because he trusts you the most. That and I think he'll be retired fully."

Kiana walked to the bay with the captain, the two were still a little upset that their son went missing but they were being comforted by Bronya who assured Kiana that "Subject damien will be fine." Kiana sighed "it's not that. it's just, it was my fault. I startled him and he fell. However that other boy, he jumped in what was he planning?" At that moment Kiana felt a hug.

The captain went into the main medical room with dundral and said "they were just lying there, on the floor." Dundral was shocked "Damm, you must've been pretty shocked too when you saw a relative to kiana." The captain nodded "I was a little shocked, but nothing too big. I was more shocked to find out my son went missing." Dundral then said "I hope he's ok?" The captain then said "he's gotta be, that other boy followed him."

Kiana stepped onto the windy hq and said "feels like forever, but I can never catch a break." She looked into the ocean and dropped some leaves in it. as she watched the leaves fall, she sat down. As she stared out into the distance she felt a hand brush her shoulder, it was theresa. she smiled at Kiana and said "aren't you cold?" Kiana nodded and said "I am, but that doesn't matter now." Theresa sat next to Kiana and kept talking "You're still quite upset aren't you?" Kiana nodded "of course, my son's gone and so is Mei's. I had to kill one of my own students and-" she was then cut off by Theresa who said "calm down, listen come inside and get a bit of rest. Nothing new is going to happen now so don't worry."

The captain waited for Kiana as time passed he began to hear some voices in his head, something was reaching out to him, begging him to help. However as Kiana approached the voices faded. He stood outside of a room and Kiana said "hey, dear." The captain smiled "it'll be alright, we'll get him back one way or another, now come on, this was my room before meeting you." As he opened the door Kiana said "we've gotta set up something down there, for all we know he could be dead." The captain sighed "Kiana, don't let it get to your head. There was nothing more that could be done." Kiana then said "I know, but If I was much faster and was ready I would've gotten him away." Kiana looked away "a while after we met, I-I've been feeling weaker, no matter how hard I train and no matter what I do, I will never be at my full strength, now I'm not saying that it's what's causing me to feel weak, but I feel as if I needed to share." The captain nodded "Maybe it's got something to do with damien, maybe it's the effects of the core. You've always had a core in you even when damien wasn't even conceived." Kiana then said "a possibility, but makes sense." The captain then picked Kiana up and placed her on the bed and said "now, wait here." Kiana sat up and looked at the captain who grabbed a couple of bottles of water for himself and Kiana and handed her one.

After a short while of nothing the captain said "Kiana, what do you plan to do?" Kiana then said "I want to see for myself, I want to see what that place is." The captain looked shocked "K-kiana, isn't that a bit, well, extreme?" Kiana nodded "yeah, but if otto, kallen and yae sakura were down there then it can't be too bad, right?" The captain sighed  and laid back "I don't know, I've heard stories and rumors of a mysterious being that lurks in there, If you plan to go there, then you have to be careful, I don't want to lose both of you now." Kiana nodded and hugged the man she loved "I know, frankly I'm not sure if I'm ready." She then yawned and fell asleep holding the captain. The captain sighed drifting off into sleep.

"Tesla, you said you did research last year?" Said theresa "what have you learnt that can bring those two back?" Tesla shrugged "Bronya was able to enter and exit with little trouble but my fear is that the kids have gone deeper, mostly outside of our viewing range, and if those three were there that means that something big has gone down, you said the way in was closed?" Theresa nodded "Kiana did say that, is that possible?" Tesla nodded "Yeah, my best guess is that is could either close for a set period of time or react to certain individuals, because as soon as bronya went in she found Seele. As they went further it closed up, opening as they came back." Theresa then said "so we should test just in case, see what makes it open?"

Bronya was checking on everyone when she was called into theresa's office. As she walked in she said "Hello." Theresa then said "bronya good, you're here, listen up. Tomorrow you dundral and Kiana will be going off to find a few things, problem they don't exist outside of a few completed works in a heavily infested area. Your job is to retrieve, these objects may allow us to see further into the sea, without sending people in, gives us more opportunity to research the place further and helps us find the kids." Bronya nodded but before leaving she said "are you sure you know what you are doing?" Theresa nodded "Yes, I've talked with both scientists extensively and they are willing to do it. Of course it'll just take a while to set up."

Durandal was training when she heard theresa enter. "Overseer." Theresa's stomach turned "r-right, I just ended a meeting with bronya and you'll be going with her to retrieve some important item, Kiana is going too, hopefully." Durandral then said "something on your mind?" Theresa nodded "yeah, when you called me overseer, I felt something in my body just change, am I fit for this job, was otto right for putting me of all people in charge?" Durandal then said "I think so, he know what he does, even if it is a bit controversial. But I can tell this one was important to him." Theresa sighed "You're right. I need to be more positive, I'll go tell Kiana about tomorrow."

The captain awoke he looked at the clock and saw it was midnight. He sighed and saw Kiana fast asleep he stroked her head and said "we're gonna find him, don't you worry." as he said that he heard a soft knock on the door and went to open in. it was theresa who whispered "is Kiana awake?" The captain shook his head and said "no, what do you need?" Theresa then said shutting the door to not wake Kiana up "I need you to go with Kiana, bronya and Durandral to find a few things tomorrow, this will help us research the sea and retrieve your son." The captain nodded "yeah, you think so?" Theresa nodded "positive. Rather than take the hyperion, you be going in on a smaller much more compact ship to get the things needed out as safe as possible."
