Chapter 13: Haunting Back

"Who is it?" I checked the id caller, Toni. Quickly showing the phone, she ended the call, and I made my way outside the veranda to answer the call.

Looking down at the backyard, the party was ongoing, and I could hear some voices from where I stood.

"What is it?" I leaned on the rail, still facing the backyard.

"Have you seen Aphrodite? April said that she was not in the room they occupied," she asked worriedly. I turned my head to the girl who was asleep on my bed.

"Yeah. She's in my room, asleep" I heard a relieved sigh and her voice telling them that she's fine.

"We'll transfer her right away-"

"That's fine... just let her sleep peacefully" I walked back inside the room and closed the door. "I won't do silly things. I promise," I said as I sat on the empty side of the bed.

"Okay. I trust you," she said before ending the call.

I placed my phone on top of the bedside drawer and charged it before I grabbed a book to read. My body somehow felt heavy as I laid my back on the headboard. My eyes can't focus on the words but instead on the beauty who was lying beside me. Aphrodite. Mom's word struck me like a knife. Was she really the one who bullied me before? Was she my first kiss?

Many questions were on my mind, but it was quickly dismissed when I felt a hand over mine. I looked at the owner, who was crying to her sleep. Placing the book on the drawer, I ran my left hand on top of her crown, caressing her head and did it until her sobs died down. She probably has a bad dream. I attempted to remove my hand, but it was gripped tightly.

"Please don't leave", I barely heard her say. I let out a deep sigh and got inside the covers. I guess I'll be sleeping with someone to hold tonight, I said to myself.

My eyes slowly fluttered open as I saw the lights passed through the curtain. I turned my head sleepily and looked at the clock. 5:45 AM. I know I should be up and doing some workout, but the nurse said I need 3 days to heal it. A body stirred on my shoulder and somehow wrapped its arm around my waist. For some unknown reason, my arm instinctively wrapped around the body. It hugged me tightly and relaxed at my embrace. My mind was still in the sense of sleep.

I heard the door swung open, and it made me got closer to the one I'm hugging.

"Hey, Sam, could we-" I turned my eyes to the owner of the voice. My face was probably frowning because I was still sleepy and didn't have my glasses on.

"What?" I asked more rudely than I wanted it to be. I felt the body beside me woke up.

"Ugh. What's with all the noise so early in the morning?" I heard it was a girl. She rubbed her eyes to fight her sleep and somehow held her temple and groaned. "Why does my head hurt?" she groaned.

And my mind snapped. It was Aphrodite!

"Hey, I told you not to disturb Sam-" I could hear Rose's voice entering the room. I got up from my bed and grabbed my glasses before heading to the bathroom to get some medicine for Aphrodite's headache. After getting a glass of water, I handed both the medicine and the glass to her.

"For someone so small, you got a lot to puke", I yawned as I rubbed my eyes from sleep. I don't care if I still have bed hair. I turned to the girls who were standing still in my room. It was Rodriguez and probably the friend that brought Aphrodite. Rose was standing nearby the door, her mouth hanging. "Dear, close your mouth, or a fly would come inside," I said, putting my hands inside the pocket. Then I saw Rose close her mouth. I heard her call my name and pointed to my shoulder. I remembered that I was only in my sports bra and boxers. I grabbed a robe from the bathroom and wore it to cover my scar.
