Chapter 46: I'm sorry

Alodia's POV

The building blasted into flames minutes after Cathy's team got out. Where is Sam?

Amanda's mother was escorted inside the van to check for wounds. I checked the satellite for any clues of Sam's whereabouts. Please be alive.

"Sam! Sam! Where are you?" I heard Cathy asked through our comms. "Check the perimeter for any signs of Sam and Aphrodite. We are not leaving here until we find them," she instructed everyone. Then, I heard footsteps coming to my side.

"How's Amanda's mother?" I asked but then I noticed a dark spot on her shirt. "Your wound is open, Catherine. Have it check," I scolded her but she shook her head.

"Later," she insisted. I grabbed her hand and dragged her on the back of the armoured vehicle.

"If you're gonna be stubborn, who knows what happens to you if the princess found out about your open wound," I reminded her and the cringe was etched on her face. "It's my turn to look for Sam," I reassured her. Then, she gave me a nod.

I got back to my working area and I noticed two small figures a couple of meters away from the building.

"Captain, proceed to the northwest direction of the building about 20 meters. I believe it's Sam and Aphrodite," I said over the comms.

Then not for long, I heard series of orders from the captain. Thank God, they're alive.

"Ma'am, these two are in critical condition," I heard the captain said over the comms. All of the sudden, we heard the sound of the helicopter. It was from THE. That means Aunt Rin must have heard the news.

"What about you ma'am, are you going to come with them?" He asked.

"Secure them first. We'll catch up with the rest," I informed the captain. Then, the helicopter left as soon as they finished loading them.

When I looked at the sky, I noticed that it was almost sunrise.

"It seems like our job here is done," I said mostly to myself. Then, I felt an arm around my shoulder.

"We're going back to base," Cathy winked making me chuckle at her antics.

THIRD POV

The trip to the hospital was quick. Sam and Aphrodite's family arrived not long after Alodia informed them. They asked what happened at the Serpent Headquarters.

Alodia explained everything from A to Z. Amanda was there too and got to reunite with her mother once again. She thanked everyone who helped and decided to stay with her mother in the meantime.

"It's good to see you, Rin," Rachel smiled at her old friend's sister.

"Good to see you too, Rachel. I bet you get to have some peace now that Angelo is dead," she smiled. The older woman nodded in relief.

"I can't thank Sam enough. Her parents have done a lot for me and so is she. I'll be sure to thank her enough," Rachel replied with a grateful look. "Angelo has broken those young girls a lot. I know my niece is a strong girl, -"

"Niece? I'm related to Aphrodite?" Amanda asked in surprise.

"Yes, dear. Is there something wrong?" Her mother inquired. Rin looked at the two with worry.

"Well, Amanda is her girl-" Rin tried to explain but Amanda stopped her with a glare.

"Ex-girlfriend," Amanda cleared up. This got Rin in surprise.

"Wait, just when?"

"Well, during the incident that Mom and Aphrodite were abducted. We got into an argument. She's confused with her feelings about Aphrodite so I ended it up before I get to fall even more," Amanda explained. She felt her tears were about to fall but she kept it at bay. Her mother gave her a reassuring side hug which she appreciated a lot.
