SAM'S POV

After our talk, Amanda and I went downstairs to talk to Mom. She was really worried about what happened and I explained everything. Amanda kept holding my hand as I told mom my story and I was thankful for that. If she didn't, I would have probably broken down.

"I got a word from your principal. Since you will be away from school, I suggest you should go back working on the main branch. I will be away until the day before the gala," she said with a stern look. Then she looked at Amanda. "I guess that she already asked you out?" Amanda nodded making mom smile. "Alright, I'll be heading upstairs and call me when dinner is ready," she said as she stood up from the couch then walked her way upstairs.

"So she knew already?" I asked her. I know she wanted to keep her relationship private especially that we're not yet official. I saw her nod her head.

"She kind of tricked me, making me blurt out the truth," she said with a nervous chuckle. I smiled at her knowing Mom would do such tricks.

"Anyway, that's fine with me. At least, she approves of it" I said laying my head on her lap. "Can you do that again?" I asked with a pout. The action made her chuckle and ran her hand through my hair. Both of us were in the living room watching Superwoman when I heard someone called for me. I sat up just to see Rose with a surprised look.

"Am I disturbing you?" she asked a bit dumbfounded. I frowned at her question and I realized that she probably thought we were having sex. It made me laugh.

"Get your mind off the gutter Rose. I was just having her as a lap pillow," I smirked at Amanda who facepalmed.

"Miss, the dinner is ready," the maid, who came out from one of the doors, informed us. I dismissed her with a nod.

"I'll get Mom," I told Amanda who nodded her head.

I heard some voices from the dining hall, I can't pinpoint everyone because of how loud they were talking. I made my way upstairs towards the room that mom was staying. Knocking on the door, I heard a faint 'come in' and it was my cue to enter.

"Mom, dinner is ready," I said as I got inside.

Mom looked up from her seat and noticed that she was reading some files from work.

"Don't overwork yourself," I said with a stern look but she just gave me a sheepish smile. She put down the papers that she was reading before standing up from her seat.

"I just want to finish work before the deadline," she said as she walked towards me.

"Well knowing this line of work, it's endless" I pointed out. "So it's pointless if you rush things," I added.

"You're learning," she said shuffling my hair like a kid. "I bet it's Amanda's influence," she said with a playful smirk. I shrugged playfully, acting like I didn't know what she was talking about. "From the look of things, she's really interested in you Sam. Though I don't know what it will be for you," she said as she held my shoulders.

"Mom, trust me when I said I'm not rushing things," I said reassuringly. "She's been patient with me about my past and I'm glad she doesn't pry that much," I added.

"You do know you can't run forever from it, right?" I nodded.

"I know mom. Just... not the time to tell her about it. But I'll tell her when the time is right," I smiled at her. She let out a sigh and nodded her head in understanding.

"I just want you to know that Amanda is really a sweet girl Sam. Her hard exterior just comes out when it's about business"

"I know. She's a sucker for cuddles," I winked before leaving the older woman in surprise.
