Reader POV

"I would like to join the Silver Eagles," you said as all nine captains had raised their hands for you.

Nozel, who was the newly appointed captain, smiled at you. "We accept you into our squad, Sukehiro."

Leon was disappointed since he wanted you to join his squad but was also happy since you were happy.

"Here," a member gave you the Silver Eagles robes. "Go change into it."

Another member stared at you and scoffed. "I am honestly surprised Nozel is letting the daughter of a foreigner into the squad."

You aimed a dark glare at her but said nothing.

After the exam, Acier went into labor. From
what you heard from Nozel who was currently crying into you, she died giving birth to his youngest sibling.

"I...I didn't think it would be so soon," he cried into your chest.

You held him, tears streaming down your face. Acier was just like a second mother since your own mother passed before you could remember.

"Aniki?" Solid and Nebra crawled onto Nozel's bed.

"This is all...Noelle's fault," Nozel hissed, letting you go and staring down at his siblings.

"No-"

"(y/n), please. I need to be alone with my siblings right now," Nozel cast you a glance with furious tears.

You nodded and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Remember, it's not her fault but his."

You closed the door after yourself and walked into Acier's room where Noelle was crying. She was all swaddled. You picked up her form.

"I'll take care of you," you swore. "After all, your mother took care of me when my father was on missions."

The child had Acier's silver/white hair and purple eyes. In other words, she looked just like her mother.

"May she find peace," Dad said solemnly over dinner that night.

You had told him everything.

"That devil...I'm going to end him," you seethed.

Dad didn't look at you. "(y/n), you can't. He's too powerful. I was talking with Julius and William. We are going to send you to the Heart Kingdom to get stronger."

"But I just got into the Silver Eagled squad-"

"I don't care." Dad slammed his hands on the table and was shouting. He never shouted in that manner. "Julius says that only a few mages stand a chance against that devil."

"How do you know that I am-"

"You have dark magic and demonic magic. Julius already got into contact with the Heart Queen. Something tells him that you can get stronger there. I trust him."

"But I'm going to miss you," you said quietly.

Dad took a deep breath and calmed. "I know. But you are one of three known people who stand a chance."

"I'm going to miss you," your friends smiled sadly as you got ready to board the ship going to the Heart Kingdom.

"I'm going to miss you too."

Nozel's lip trembled. "I just lost my mother. I'm not going to lose you too!"

You gently hugged him. "I'm not leaving you, Nozel. I'm going to get stronger and defeat him so we..."

Nozel knew what you were going to say. "Just promise me...don't fall in love with a Heart Mage! Your heart belongs to me, got that??" His face was extremely red.

You smiled and kissed his lips. "I know. I could say the same to you, Braid-Face."

Nozel kissed you again and gave you a kind smile. "I promise."

"Stay safe," Leon gave you a tight hug. "Don't die on us, got that?"

You laughed and hugged him back tightly. "You too."

They moved aside so your Dad could say his goodbye.

"I...I wanted you to have this," he put a necklace on you. It had a clover and spade charm. "The spade was your mother's."

"Wait...so its true, then?" I stared at Dad's sad form. "Mom was from the Spade Kingdom."

He nodded. "I have a feeling she would want you to have it." He then picked you up like a child. "I know you are probably tired of hearing this, but don't die on us. Or I'll kill you. Got that?"

You laughed. "Sure."

"Now Snotty-Steel!" Dad put you down and stared at Nozel. The male was almost as tall as him. "I had no idea you and my daughter were a thing. But you better get stronger to protect any family you two might have,"

Your faces flushed.

"Sure, foreigner." Nozel said.

"Last call!" The captain called to you. "We will be leaving for the Heart Kingdom in five minutes!"

"Goodbye and good luck," Dad said finally. "Now get your ass on that ship and you know what you have to do."

You gave everyone one last smile and boarded the ship.

Nozel POV

I watched as the girl I fell in love with boarded the ship going to the Heart Kingdom. Only a select few knew why she was really going.

As the ship pulled away from the doc, I used my mercury magic to make eagle wings and flew after it.

"Nozel!" (y/n) stared at me in shock.

"Listen, when you get back...I want us to be together,"

She gave me a huge heartwarming smile and kissed me. "We already are together, stupid."

I held her hand, my heart beating as the sun set in the horizon. "I love you."

"I love you too. Now get back to port before Dad kills you," she laughed.

I flew away slowly, our fingers touching as I flew alongside the boat.

Our fingers barely grazed each other as the ship pulled away from me. I hovered in the air until the ship was out of view.

"Goodbye, (y/n) Sukehiro. I hope you come back soon."

However, neither of us knew that it would be a long time before we could see each other again.
