So some readers have pmed me and asked me to do an Origin Story since they want to know about Megicula and Anne.
So, here we go! The main story isn't done, yet! Once I am done with the origin story, I will get back to the exact moment when Noah and his friends are about to go to the bar to celebrate getting their grimoires.
It is very important to read the origin story because the next arc I have planned for the main story will make more sense!
Thank you so much for your constant support!
Anne POVI sighed in frustration. "I don't get it! Why do I have to learn about how to host a tea party??"
My sister Loyce sweatdropped. "Annie, you're-"
"The heir to the Spade Kingdom," I finished with a sigh. "I know, I know. But sometimes I wish I was battling with someone instead of all of this nonsense."
I aimed daggers at the portrait of our family.
"What I really want sometimes is to...just be free," I looked outside at the blazing sky.
"Annie, can I ask you something?" Loyce said quietly.
"What is it?"
She nervously looked down at her shoes and started playing with her silky raven hair. "Has it never bothered you that devils lurk all four kingdoms?"
"Where's this coming from?" I asked.
Loyce looked at me with her bright golden eyes. "Lord Ciel has told me that there are reports of a demon nearby."
I shrugged. "Well, they are beings just like us so no, it doesn't bother me at all."
"I see," Loyce nodded. "Well, how about we go take a break? We've been studying all morning,"
I smiled. "Sure." Though we weren't supposed to, Loyce and I would dress up as peasants and go explore the town and forest nearby.
Since it was rather cold in the Spade Kingdom, I helped Loyce put on her cloak. I was eighteen and she was fifteen and still couldn't get the top button done.
"Where are you off to?" Our ladies in waiting asked. They indeed knew of our adventures outside the palace and under strict orders, never told our father.
"Another adventure," I grinned. "We'll be back before Father gets his mustache in a bunch."
Loyce and I ended up buying sweets that would've never touched the 'Royal Tastebuds' otherwise.
It was a type of cake from the Clover Kingdom.
Loyce and I went all the way to a cave deep in the Avalon Forest.
"This cave is scary!" My sister clung close to me as I held a torch to see ahead of us.
Suddenly, we saw a wolf. It bared its teeth at us in a threatening manner.
Instead of running like a normal person, I approached it cautiously. Something about the wolf made you think it was some kind of...magical being.
I sensed its ki and indeed, it was exactly as I thought. "Devil that resides within a wolf, what are you doing?"
Loyce was long gone, having screamed her head off and ran.
It seemed to understand me and slowly approached me. The wolf's proud muzzle brushed up against my leg.
Talk about a total mood flip!
"Come out," I said gently. "I won't hurt you."
The shadows grew until they overwhelmed the entire area. The force knocked me out.
When I came to, there was a rather handsome boy with devil's horns before me.
"Miss, are you alright??" He said frantically as he squatted beside my form.
My eyes opened fully. "Yes, I am fine. Are you the devil that was inside the wolf?"
He nodded. "You can only see me in this form but you can't touch me."
"I am Anne," I said. I didn't want it to know that I was the heir to the Spade Kingdom, or at least not yet.
The boy nodded. "I am Megicula."
"Megicula, huh? That's a weird name,"
"Not as weird as my older brother Lucifero's name," he retorted. "Say, you're pretty,"
My face flushed. "You don't look horrible,"
His red eyes widened. "Wow. No one had said that to me if they see me in this form,"
I tilted my head. "Why is that? Everything had beauty in its own way,"
Megicula sat down in the shadows. "You are very kind."
"Thank you," I said. "I seem to get that a lot."
Then I looked at the entrance of the cave. The sun was almost done setting.
"Oh my god! I need to get home!"
"Will I see you again?" Megicula frowned.
I flashed him a grin and made wings out of wind creation magic. "Of course! We're friends now, are we not?"
Megicula's face turned crimson. "I suppose we are. You'd better come back, Anne! I like you!"
I chuckled. "I like you too, Megicula. See you tomorrow!"
...
"Why did it take you so long to get home?" Loyce asked me as she walked into my room
late at night. I had gotten home quickly enough to get dressed for dinner and not be above Father's suspicions."I made a...friend," I smiled.
Loyce double blinked. "Was it a guy?"
"A very special one."
Loyce gagged. "Ew."
I flashed her a teasing grin. "Aw, c'mon! I know you and Lord Ciel-"
"Shh!!" Loyce flushed a deep crimson. "If anyone heard you...!"
"I know. Now get out of my room so I can sleep!"
Loyce laughed and closed my door, heading to her own.
I brushed my hair slowly, humming a tune, got dressed into pajamas, and took off the silver spade necklace I wore daily.
I placed it into my jewelry box and climbed onto my big bed.
"Megicula, huh?" I thought about the devil boy. He looked to be around 20 but I could be wrong.
"I look forward to seeing you more often."
