"Hmph!" I tried to speak out but she still had her hand covering my mouth.
"Shh, you have to be quiet or else they will hear you." She whispered and I nodded in response.
A weight had lifted off my shoulders when I realized that it was her and wasn't some big angry guy just itching to kill me. Julie slowly removed her hand from my mouth and I let out a big heavy sigh. Julie quickly scanned me over before snatching my hand and pulling me towards another door.
I skidded to a stop and planted my feet on the floor.
"No, no no." I rushed out, panic flooding my system again.
I felt myself wanting to flee. I didn't want to die. I couldn't. My fear overtook control of my body and I refused to see what was behind that door, I wasn't going back out there!
She let go of my arm for a second before giving me a reassuring glance, "It's a closet."
I took a deep breath, trying to reassure myself and calm my unraveling bundle of nerves in the pit of my stomach. I cautiously followed her inside the rather large closet. It was the size of my bedroom at my apartment. Julie turned on the light then closed the door, switching the lock and leaning against the door. I heard her let out a heavy sigh and run a shaky hand through her messy hair. My legs started to wobble even more, because all there was left to do now was wait; for my death? My escape? Who knows. I settled down near her, hiding myself in the racks of clothing.
"Keep the light off." I whispered.
Julie sighed and clicked it off. Maybe if they came in they wouldn't notice the closet, or even think to look in here because it was so fucking obvious.
Julie finally broke the silence, "What the fuck did you do, Emily?"
I bit my lip and fiddled with my hair, something that I always did when I was nervous. I didn't want to get Julie in trouble, she shouldn't even be helping me in the first place. After getting just a small taste of Luca's temper I knew he would surely kill her if he found out that she was helping me.
"I, uh," I swallowed the pool of saliva that formed in my mouth. "I made him mad. Very, very mad."
Julie narrowed her eyes at me, silently urging me to continue.
"I tried to tone down that huge ego of his!" I cried before Julie placed a finger over my mouth to shush me. I nodded frantically and lowered my voice. "I spit on him and told him off in front of his men."
I glanced down nervously, scared to hear her reaction to what my stupid self had gotten myself into. I looked back up and saw that her jaw was slacked open in shock, no words escaped her lips and I knew it was going to end badly for me. Julie knew him better than me, and I'm sure she's experienced his wrath before, and surprisingly lived.
"Holy fuck. What were you thinking!" She whispered harshly.
I held back a chuckle as I thought of it. Luca's look of surprise on his face almost sent me to the floor with laughter. Julie must have seen my small smirk and scolded me with a single sharp look. "It's not funny! I've seen him kill a man for asking a question!"
My face suddenly dropped and I felt my eyes grow wide in shock. I really didn't know who I was truly fucking with. Not so cocky now, eh? I heard my conscious grumble. I mentally cursed.
"Emily, he could crush you with a single swipe of his hand." Her voice was shaky, clearly holding worry.
I gulped and began to feel the panic rise up in my throat again. Either that, or bile.
"I've realized that by now!" I barked.
Julie shot me a look, "You should have realized that a long time ago!"
