since maeve and fred had gotten back together, they were trying to find the perfect time to go on their first date as a couple.

sure, they had already snuck out during the evenings to go to the kitchens and sometimes the room of requirement, but they both wanted a proper date.

the first hogsmede weekend after their reunion was at the beginning of march, almost a month later.

they had told their friends that they were just going together because everyone else had dates. maeve and fred didn't want to tell anyone that they were back together in case they overreacted. they also wanted time for themselves to figure out what they were- if they had another breakup, they didn't want it to effect friendships, since eddie and fred had grown closer again and george and maeve had as well.

either way, they were going to hogwarts 'as friends' but they knew it was actually a date.

both of them were nervous for some odd reason. they were used to each other since they had known each other for years and years and had dated for almost six months when they were 16, but somehow they were both slightly scared of what their first proper date would be like.

despite not wanting her friends to realise that they were going on a date, maeve dressed up as nicely as she could. thankfully it was quite warm considering it was march, so maeve decided to wear a denim skirt with a white top and a denim jacket. she wore some chunky black boots that made her click everything she took a step.

maeve and fred met each other at the entrance of hogwarts and started walking down to the three broomsticks. maeve took a second to look at what fred was wearing. fred's hair had been left alone, giving it the messy look that she loved. he wore jeans that matched the colour of her skirt with some red trainers and his weasley jumper (the one without the f for fred on it).

maeve smiled. she hadn't thought that they'd be doing this for over a year. she just had to hope that her and fred were going to end up together. she hadn't had many relationships or dates but she liked to think that fred was the person that was meant for her, though she would probably ditch him for any of the friends cast if she could.

maeve had a vision of her future after the war- her and fred raising a family together and getting married. they wouldn't have as many kids as the weasley's did but three or four would be nice.

"what names do you like?" she asked him suddenly.

"what do you mean? names for children?" he questioned, making her nod, "uh- i haven't really thought about it much. i suppose maybe i'd go for names that are in the family. like george or ron for a boy and molly or ginny for a girl."

"i think i could only do that as a middle name. it feels like too much pressure other wise, don't you think?" maeve commented.

"i guess. what ones do you like?" he asked.

"remus told me that my dad wanted to call me olivia. maybe that? i used to tell remus that i'd name my kid selene because selene was the titan of the moon in greek mythology and i wanted to name my kid after him," she told him the short anecdote.

"olivia selene sounds nice," he said to her, opening the door to the three broomsticks. "though this does mean i get to name our son!"

they entered the pub and maeve got a table whilst fred bought them each a butterbeer.

"okay so what are you naming our son, freddo?" maeve asked him as they sat down at a booth.

"hmm," fred acted as if he was thinking, "what about elvendork?"

even though she knew he was joking, maeve's jaw dropped and her lips parted since she was so incredulous.

fred threw his head back, laughing maniacally as his hand slapped across his chest. once he had calmed down slightly, he carried on, not without a few chuckles, "you should've seen your face! anyway- i choose arthur james. for our dads- though i suppose our mums would be a bit left out. who says we can't have more than one daughter though, right?"

maeve grinned at her boyfriend, relishing in the way that calling fred her boyfriend sounded.

they carried on a conversation about muggle culture as they drank their drinks while maeve swooned over his excitement and passion.

after about half an hour, george and lee jordan, one of the twin's closest friends, came into the pub. they spotted fred and maeve and made their way over to their booth.

"hey guys!" george said, sliding into the space next to maeve.

maeve and fred exchanged confused looks and a panicked 'what do we do' look, though they somehow decided to let it go, using their fake telepathic powers. they had thought that george and lee would leave them alone soon enough.

"how are you both?" maeve asked them both, praying that they'd leave soon.

"oh we're great, aren't we george?" lee said, a knowing smirk on his face.

oh. so george and lee had realised that maeve and fred were on a date and decided to hijack it. great.

"oi, maeve!" was shouted from across the room. eddie.

maeves best friend and his boyfriend harvey had decided to join them as well.

"oh, you don't mind if we join, do you?" harvey asked with a cheeky smile.

"of course not!" george exclaimed.

maeve glared at eddie, who had sat next to lee. he smiled at her, his eyes pleading for her to admit what was actually going on.

the group of six sat together for an hour, both maeve and fred waiting for them to leave and getting more and more annoyed. eddie had even ordered himself a bowl of cheesy chips, making himself comfortable.

"and then i was like 'no mae! don't eat the soap!'" eddie told the group as they all laughed at her expense.

maeves glare grew even stronger. even fred was laughing at her now.

"oh, i've got a funny story about fred!" george started.

"no thanks!" fred yelled.

"we were about seven years old and-" george tried to tell an undoubtedly embarrassing story.

"stop it!" maeve groaned, "me and fred are trying to spend time alone and you're all interrupting us!"

fred shot her a look hat said 'ah, well done, you've blown our cover!'.

eddie grinned, "i thought this was an outing as friends?"

"we lied," fred told them.

"we're on a date and you lot are ruining it!" maeve said candidly.

eventually they managed to get rid of their annoying friends with a 'see you later, lovebirds!' and it was finally just maeve and fred again.

she smiled at fred apologetically, "sorry for telling them."

"it's fine, evie. honestly, i'm glad you did. they were pissing me right off," fred told her.

maeve reached across the table for the chips eddie had left and downed the rest of her drink. the two of them decided to go around to the other shops, secretly making out behind honeydukes and buying each other gifts before they called it a day and went back to hogwarts, happy that they were finally back together.
