number twelve grimmauld place was dark and damp. it was pureblood supremacy bunched up and exploded into a house. the walls were all black and dust coated every item. a portrait was hung in the stairwell wall and every time someone passed it, insults were thrown.
this house was one reason that maeve was not excited for her summer.
summer was usually a decent time of the year in her opinion. sure, it was too warm for her and it made it so she couldn't wear her favourite items of clothing- some worn out jeans and a comfy jumper. but it allowed her to see her uncle remus and she could spend time with edward capulet, her best friend.
however, staying at this house meant no going outside. it was the headquarters for an organisation called the order of the phoenix. the order was group of people lead by albus dumbledore to fight voldemort.
all in all, maeve supported the order. voldemort had tried to kill her and her brother and was then killed by her brother when she was three. she was definitely not about to take his side after the resurrection, especially when he had succeeded killing her parents all those years again.
however, she did find being locked in a house slightly unnecessary. see, for her 17th birthday, her and edward were supposed to go to a weird sisters concert and now she wasn't allowed to. she had voiced how u fair she found this to remus but she didn't acknowledge it. apparently she was too important. the one time she didn't want attention...
anyway, this was not the only reason she was upset about grimmauld place.
after eight days of living in the manky, dusty house, she went down for breakfast and it wasn't just her, remus and sirius anymore. instead, she was accompanied by six redheads and hermione granger.
the majority of these people were great. mr and mrs weasley were almost like parents to maeve and her brother harry. mr weasley loved muggle culture, just like she did and he was very funny. mrs weasley was caring and kind and she sent maeve fudge every month.
hermione granger and ron weasley were also nice to maeve. they were the best friends of her brother and she felt like a big sister to them both at this point, even if they probably didn't feel the same way.
ginny weasley was the youngest of her family and the only daughter. out of all the new people that had arrived, ginny was maeve's favourite. they had known each other since maeve was eleven and ginny was eight. they bonded after ginny being slightly scared by her and maeve offering to give her a makeover and tell her all about hogwarts. ginny and maeve were definitely like sisters. at the end of each month in hogwarts they met up in the kitchens to gossip about boys and their friends.
penultimately was george weasley. maeve had been friends with george since she entered hogwarts. they had shared a compartment on the train ride and their friendship had been solid since then. the only problem with george was his twin brother fred.
much like her having known george for ages, maeve had known fred for just as long. except their friendship developed into a relationship. they had been quite happy together u til their abrupt break up in december '94. since then, they couldn't stand each other.
so when maeve potter made eye contact with fred weasley while she was in her favourite pyjamas, she was beyond shocked. she was angry, she was anxious and she was annoyed. but she also knew she had to be the bigger person. maeve potter turned away from fred weasley and smiled at his parents.
"hi, mrs weasley, mr weasley. how are you?" she said with a forced smile.
"oh, maeve! darling we haven't seen you in so long! we- well we're doing as well as we can. what about you, my dear?" mrs weasley gushed.
