Two things I'm reading this book so I can continue it and know where I left off and second about the Mcs backstory .

                          
He started off as a normal Marine such as in the original games but during the " reboot " he is sent to the dawn of time and goes through it as the doom slayer but yes he was also doom guy. However he has no idea his original universe was rebooted he was just in blind rage killing demons so basically eternity's felt like weeks to him. As for his powers let's just say this takes place in a au after doom eternal that's when this stories plot takes place. So i will be adding things from doom eternal now.
