I gazed at the girl in front of me.
Yeah, you heard right, I said girl. I'm lesbian. You got a problem?
But the girl wasn't just anyone. She was Annabeth Chase, top of her class, captain of the track team, and in my opinion, the hottest girl in school. But I wasn't the only one that thought that. Almost every one of the jocks and boys in our grade had tried flirting with her, only to be rejected every time.
That was one of the reasons that I hadn't talked to her yet. She had already rejected so many other guys (and girls), saying she had a boyfriend. Nobody had actually seen this "boyfriend" of hers, but either way, I was pretty sure she was straight.
I still wanted to talk to her, sooner or later, just to get it off my chest, but I don't know how she'll react. I'd seen her punch a guy who asked her out, and beat up a guy who tried to kiss her against her will. I mean, this wasn't as serious as those times, but still, you could never tell with Annabeth Chase.
The bell rang, signalling the end of class, and the school day. Everyone got up and almost ran towards the door, so loud that you couldn't even hear the announcements. I took a deep breath. Now was as good a time as ever.
"Hey, Annabeth?" She turned towards me.
"What's up, Alyssa?"
"I-I need to talk to you," I said, stuttering a little.
"Oh okay," she replied, "Spill." I wasn't very good friends with Annabeth, but I knew her and we had worked together on some projects. I gulped, preparing myself for what I was about to say.
"Ever since you stood up for me, y'know, at the beginning of the year, I've kinda, maybe, had a crush on you. I-I mean, it's totally fine if you hate me now, that I basically admitted to being gay, like all my friends," I cut off. That was not a great memory, remembering all of my friends gossiping about me and walking away once I came out to them.
"Oh," she said, "Oh, wow." She burst out laughing. At my face, she quickly stopped. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I wasn't laughing at you, just the idea that, you know, I'm supposed to be the best student in class, but I couldn't even tell that one of my own friends liked me. Gods, Seaweed Brain's rubbing off on me."
"Wait," I hesitated, "Friends?"
"Well, yeah," she said, "I consider you a friend, someone I can talk to, someone that actually helps out on projects," she rolled her eyes. "Anyways, I'm really sorry, but I have a boyfriend. But, we can be friends, if you want."
"Really?" I asked in amazement. "You don't mind that I'm lesbian?"
"No! Why would I?" She exclaimed, "I mean, unless it affects your personality, which I don't think it does." I smiled. It felt good to be accepted, even if it was by my crush, as a friend. I guess Annabeth wasn't the one, but I know that somewhere, there is someone for me.
A/N Hi! So......yeah. I really don't have anything to say XD. But still, hope you enjoyed!
