Please, forgive me for not updating in a while. I have one on the way! Promise!
But this is serious. I don't want to stay silent. I want to do what I can, including spreading awareness in any way possible.
There's....a lot going on in the world right now, to say the least. Including what could shape up to be the biggest Civil Rights movement in the world. And all of it is justified.
We all know about what happened to George Floyd. He was killed in a show of police brutality, where an officer sat on his neck until he died. It's cruel, and a horrible thing to hear, but we need to know.
But not many people know about Breonna. Breonna Taylor was an EMT, and more importantly, an innocent woman. One night, a group of police officers, who were supposed to be investigating two people who were supposedly selling drugs, over ten miles away, barged into her home and exchanged gunfire with Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.
In the crossfire, Breonna, who was asleep at the time, was shot eight times. Needless to say, she didn't make it.
Even now, as people are protesting and rallying all over the country, hell, the world, the United States government decides that instead of accepting change, in a time where change is critical, they will dig their heels into the metaphorical ground and turn to violence against their own citizens.
Rubber bullets are being shot into crowds of peaceful protesters, as well as tear gas, which isn't even used in war. I repeat. The United States government is using materials deemed too cruel for war, against their own citizens.
This is, in no way, okay. We have to speak up, raise our voices, because in a time like this, silence can become equal to violence, against a group of people who just wish that they don't have to fear for their lives at all times. People who just want to be treated like you and me.
In the end, we're all human. We make mistakes, but now it's time to own up to the mistakes we've made in the past and fight for justice. For George Floyd, for Breonna Taylor, and for everyone else who I haven't mentioned.

These are just some petitions you can sign. You could also donate, but I haven't linked those (NAACP is a good organization to donate to if you're interested) but if you can't, petitions can also make a huge difference.
Thanks for reading and for taking action!
Stay safe, be kind, and....try to use a reusable bag next time you go to the grocery store 🤷♀️
