Even though she was a Shadowhunter, Clary had no intention of letting her artistic skills go. They were like a part of her, a part that had been with her since she was young, and a part that couldn't be overshadowed by shadowhunting. She was determined to hang on to just a little bit of her mundane life, which is why she was getting ready quickly, trying to get to the gallery on time.

Clary had booked an art show, along with a couple of other artists downtown. The show started at noon, and it was 10:15 already. She had had time to set up most of her work yesterday, but she still had a few pieces that she had yet to take to the gallery. She had put on a green, knee length dress, and asked Isabelle for minimal makeup, though with Isabelle, minimal meant just a little less than usual. As soon as she finished, Clary bolted out of the Institute doors to hail a taxi to get to the gallery.

She walked into the gallery, spotting her paintings on the wall. Next to hers, there were other paintings by someone else, whose signature said RED. RED's paintings were a completely different style from Clary's, more abstract. Clary's personal favorite, after looking at them for a while, was a painting of three small-looking figures standing in front of the Empire State Building, the one in front holding something that gleamed, suspiciously like a bronze sword, with large shadows looming over them, coming from somewhere that she couldn't see. Clary thought she was imagining it, but it looked like a fine, white mist was floating above the building, but she couldn't be sure.

RED had plenty of other paintings, like a painting of a large, blue farmhouse surrounded by strawberry fields, and another painting of what looked like a bronze......dragon? The dragon had two people on it's back, one had dark hair and the other had light, caramel colored hair, and the dragon was surrounded by trees, probably in the middle of the forest.

She would have kept looking at the paintings, but someone came over to stand by the booth. The person, or rather girl, had red, curly hair, like Clary's own, green eyes, also like Clary's, although she was much taller, a tie-dye t-shirt, and a paint splattered denim skirt. That must be RED, Clary thought.

"Hi," she turned to RED, "I'm Clary." RED smiled at her.

"I'm Rachel," she said, "Great to meet you."

"What do the E and the D stand for?"

"Huh?" Rachel looked confused for a second, before realization dawned on her face. "Oh! E stands for my middle name, which is Elizabeth, and D stands for Dare."

"Wait," Clary replied, "Dare as in..."

"Dare Enterprises," Rachel sighed, "Unfortunately."

Clary decided to let go of the topic. "Anyways, I really like your painting style. I could never paint like that."

"Aw, thanks! I like your's too! I mean, it's not really as familiar to me, I prefer more abstract, but I can appreciate realism."

"Okay, everyone!" the gallery owner called. "Thank you so much for helping to put on this show! The gallery is opening in five minutes, so make sure all of your pieces are in place. I hope that this show will help you make a place for yourselves in the art world. Good luck!"

Clary turned around to adjust one of her paintings on the wall. She may not have a career in art ahead of her, but she could still have fun.
