Shyler's POV
"Louis, you alright in there?" I called out curiously as a loud "WHAT?!" echoed throughout the flat. There was a moment of silence in which everyone waited for his response.
"Yeah, yeah, fine..." he replied weakly, and I didn't believe it for a second. After that, Sophie and the boys began to converse again, but I stayed quiet and faced towards the kitchen. I stared at the doorway, pausing until Harry and Lou emerged again. Unfortunately, Sophie decided right then was the perfect moment to forcibly drag me into the conversation. Literally.
"So Shy..." she began, yanking my arm when I wasn't expecting it, causing me to stumble into the middle of the small circle made up of her and the three boys. "Did you say you had a question for me?"
"Soph, one sec, I-" I tried to look over her shoulder to the kitchen, and I just barely saw the two lads escape and head straight down the hall that led to the bedrooms. Damn it, Sophie. I sighed. I heard a door slam shut loudly, and I knew there wouldn't be any use to trying to talk to Louis now. He was probably locked away in his room and wouldn't come out for a while. "Actually, yeah."
"Well...?" she prompted, urging me to continue.
"So, give me the story on how you managed to find me and the lads."
"That's not a question," she said matter-of-factly. I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, just tell me!" I huffed, exasperated.
She decided to move to sit down on one of the plush couches arranged around the TV, and Liam, as well as Zayn, Niall, and I, mirrored her. Sophie tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and took a deep breath before starting her story.
"Okay," she began. "Well, it all started when I was just lounging around in my dorm at Uni, stressed out from studying, when I turned on the TV for a little break. Ya know, I was going crazy just trying to memorize that crap that they say is supposed to help you in life. But seriously, when the hell am I ever going to need to know the exact day when Shakespeare died?" Sophie snorted.
'Attractive sound,' I thought sarcastically.
"Anyway, so I was just flipping through the different channels, waiting to find something interesting to come on, when something on the news caught my attention. It was my favorite boy band of all time, spotted at the airport, and apparently there had been a huge mob of people chasing them around or whatever. I got so concerned; I mean, I couldn't stand it if they hurt my poor Liam!" At this, Liam's face turned bright red, although Sophie didn't seem to notice and just kept going.
"I kept on watching, and luckily, everyone but Louis was safe and sound. Soon enough, they showed footage of Louis running with a girl. A very, very familiar girl, might I add," she smiled, winking at me. I just rolled my eyes, a sigh escaping my lips in the process. "Then, sure enough, they said your name, and I nearly screamed. Like, you have no idea. I then ran around my dorm, searching for your number. I knew I had to have it somewhere because I had remembered you had given it to me when you said goodbye to me years and years ago, but I couldn't find it anywhere. By that time, my roommate, Rose, walked in and saw me turning our dorm upside down to find your number and just about flipped out at me. To make a long story short, I got kicked out for the night and ended up just finding out that the number had been in my phone the whole time."
At this, the boys laughed. I couldn't blame them, though. It took everything not to just hold my head in my hands in shame at the fact that this crazy, forgetful, and energetic girl was indeed my best friend. But then again, it was also the reason that we were friends. It boggled my mind that that was how friendship worked, but somehow, it did.
