Chapter 7

Engagement

Eto na ang pinakahihintay na event ni Mom and Dad... Ang engagement party namin ni Aiden.

Everyone was busy. They are making sure that nothing could go wrong in this party. Sabi pa nila, kailangan kontrolado nila ang lahat ng magaganap sa party na ito. This is the moment that they have been waiting for.

The De Leon and the Cervantes will finally be one. And the newly united empires will be the strongest empire of all.

All business entrepreneurs are welcome to the party. Kahit ang mga empleyado at ang mga karibal na kompanya ay imbitado. Siguro, ito na ang pinakamalaking event sa taong ito. What more if ang wedding na? Gosh!

The venue is in a five-star hotel na pag-aari nila Aiden. Dito na kami natulog para hindi na kami babyahe. Malayo kasi ang bahay namin dito.

Aiden's family insisted na sila na ang mag aasikaso sa lahat ng details sa party but my family said 'no'. Sabi nila kailangan we should join forces para mas lalong mapadali ang preparations.

Noon, when they are talking about the engagement, I would feel angry and mad about everything. Magkukulong ako sa kwarto ko. Pero ngayon, I'm starting to like this whole thing since I am also starting to like Aiden.

I know that my parents noticed my changes. From hating all of these, I ended up loving everything about it. Even if it is an arrange marriage. Kahit na marriage for convenience lang to, Aiden made me feel like it wasn't. He assures me that everything is going to be alright. And that he likes me as much as I do, and that's enough for me. That's already an assurance.

"Couldn't sleep?" Rinig kong tanong ni Aiden mula sa likod ko.

Nasa swimming pool area ako ngayon ng hotel. It's already late, hindi ako makatulog kaya dito ako pumunta. Naka robe lang ako at naka slippers.

"Yeah."

Lumapit siya sa akin at bahagyang hinawakan ang baywang ko. "You should sleep. Tomorrow's the big day, baka mapagod ka."

Humarap ako sa kanya. Nagtama ang aming mga mata. Kahit na medyo madilim ay kitang kita ko ang magaganda niyang pares ng mata. It somehow melted all my anxieties.

"Just tell me if you don't want to continue this wedding, alright? Ako na ang hahanap ng paraan para hindi ito matuloy," Sabi ko sa kanya.

Umiwas siya ng tingin at pinikit ang mga mata. Inilapit niya ako sa kanya at pinaglebel ang aming mga mata.

"I really don't want this marriage. I mean, I'm still young," Nanikip ang dibdib ko sa sinabi niya. Gusto ba niyang itigil ang kasal.

Namumuo na ang mga luha sa aking mga mata. Yumuko ako upang hindi niya makita.

"But the thought of you, being my bride is more than enough for me. Let's do the wedding, darling. I am never backing out."

Kumakabog ng mabilis nag dibdib ko. I'm very nervous. Ni hindi ko na marinig ang sinasabi ng mga taong nasa paligid ko. I am never been this nervous before.

Navy blue ang suot kong evening gown. It is a mermaid gown designed by one of the best designer in the country. Si Mom ang pumili nito, I loved it tho.

Hindi din makapal ang make up ko. My Mom suggested na mag hire na make up artist since this is a once in a lifetime event, I don't want to, I can do my makeup pero she insisted. So, I don't have a choice. Luckily, my makeup artist made me look more natural. She just curled my long hair so it flowed freely at my back.
