Why her?
She's right in everything she said. We were really just friends for ages! I was never quite attracted to her the way I am now until she started listening to me. When she actually started standing out from the girls in our group. She would try and do things when I offered to teach the girls. She has never been afraid of making a fool of herself or trying something new.
I love that about her.
I also love how comfortable around boys she is. When I first met her I thought she was a flirt but slowly I just realised she is just comfortable with guys and gets along with them all really easily and I couldn't wait to get to know her. But then I got in a relationship and never really had the chance because if I spoke with her it would be pronounced as me flirting with her and hence cheating on my girlfriend. Girls in our year level or at least the people we knew were like that. They misunderstood each other and seriously misunderstood Gabby. They thought she was a slut or a ganger. She's told me many a times that she is just more comfortable with guys and therefore she gets titles thrown at her. Slowly she peeled away from the guys and joined two girls who soon became close with my group of guys. That was when I noticed her more and I became a slightly bad influence on her. More than slightly.
Although she was tough and strong I always seemed to see her as innocent and fragile. I knew she could stand up for herself and take down almost anyone who got on her bad side if she wanted too. Although she took the critisicm and never did anything to get back at them. She would always be the better person and the more mature person. That much was clear. When words are said behind her back she is never there to stick up for herself and slowly I found myself doing it because I knew she would was doing the same for me. Rumours started spreading about us really quickly. My girlfriend got super pissed but I tried to convince her there was nothing between us. She was easily persuaded which helped.
As the group started going out places together we all got a lot closer and like Gabriella said we didn't actually talk one on one often. We were friends because the rest of the group was friends. I watched from a distance observing her for ages and still I couldn't shake the idea of her being fragile. I felt myself get very protective of her but I tried to bite it down. If I had to explain my actions I wouldn't be able too so I saw it better not to do anything. Still I was reckless and had another band of friends who enjoyed all the adrenaline junkie things that I did. Putting me in hospital multiple times or ending up at the Police station weren't uncommon.
A week before the incident at the sculpture I was in hospital after splitting the skin above my left eyebrow. I'd decided to climb a tree that once you got closer to the top the branches were so skinny that they moved with the wind wherever it went. I was up the top when the branch snapped beneath my feet sending me plummeting to the ground. I landed with a great thud however managed no broken bones. Just a seriously sore back and that split. Mum took me to hospital when I got home and she also posted on Facebook a status saying we are back again, using her location services to identify the hospital. It was early afternoon when I got a text from Gabriella saying,
"What room trouble?" I replied instantly.
"West Wing 34"Within minutes I saw her walk through my door with her cream handbag and a teddy bear.
"What did you do this time?" She asked sitting in the chair beside me as my Mum got up and moved. I loved the way her hair was messy, she clearly hadn't planned on seeing anyone she knew today. She had make up on but just enough to accentuate all the assets on her face.
"Fell out of a tree." I whispered quietly.
"I wish I had been there to see it. I mean pffft are you okay?" Gabriella was out right amazing. She could make you feel better just by talking because she used random words and sound effects to add to her speech.
"Ha ha I get it I was being a thrill seeker again."
"Well this is for you anyway." She handed me the teddy bear with 'Get Well Soon' sewn onto its stomach. It was a typical teddy bear but it was fluffy.
"Thanks. It's cute."
