AALIYAH TAYLOR

|||

THE NEXT MORNING, Laurelle barged into my room, calling my name louder than necessary. My eyes fluttered open, a groan escaping my lips as the blinding lights hit my face. I looked over at a smirking Laurelle as I sat up, a frown causing my lips to pull downwards.

"Rise and shine, Sunshine. You have work today." Laurelle chirped, causing my frown to deepen.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Five thirty." Laurelle simply stated before leaving the room.

I sighed, lowering my head into my hands. I spent a few minutes like this; completely silent, enjoying how the silence surrounded me. Finally, I got out of bed and made my way to the washroom. I turned on the shower, allowing the water to warm up before stepping in.

I'm not sure how long I had been in the shower for, but my skin slowly began to shrivel up and I finally decided to step out of the shower. I walked into my room and looked for an outfit. After a few minutes, I decided on a bright yellow blouse, a black pair of trousers and a black pair of heels. I pulled my hair out of the ponytail, allowing it to fall down; falling over my shoulders and face. I grabbed a brush and brushed out my hair before placing it into a neat bun on top of my head. Grabbing a black Kate Spade purse that Faith had loaned me, I stuffed my belongings into the bag and walked out of my room.

As I made my way down the stairs, I heard laughing coming from the kitchen. I walked into the kitchen, and was instantly greeted by Laurelle, Eli and Faith.

"Look who's finally ready." Laurelle mumbled sarcastically, causing Eli and Faith to chuckle.

"Oh, shut up, Laurelle." I said as I took a seat at the island.

Faith passed me a plate filled with bacon and eggs, but I politely declined.

"Aren't you hungry?" She questioned, but I only shook my head.

Faith nodded as she placed the plate on the counter. Laurelle and Eli continued on with their conversation; Faith jumping in occasionally. A while went by before Laurelle informed me it was time to leave for work. I bid my farewells to Eli and Faith before following Laurelle out of the kitchen.

She led me down the hallway, to the front door. Opening the door, Laurelle walked me outside, where a jet black Escalade was waiting for us. A man exited the car, smiling in our direction.

"Morning Laurelle!" The man exclaimed.

"Good morning Robin!" Laurelle said as we neared the man.

He looked over at me, an eyebrow slightly raised, but his smile never left his face.

"And who might this beautiful lady be?" He questioned as he took my hand in his, placing a kiss on the back of it.

"I'm Aaliyah." I said, causing the man's smile to widen.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful woman. My name is Robin Sans, I am Mr. Braxton's personal driver." The man told me.

"Well, she's all your Robin." Laurelle said before walking off.

Robin chuckled, opening the door for me. I thanked him as I climbed into the car. Robin made his way to the driver's seat before starting the car and pulling off. The radio played softly in the background as Robin and I engaged in small conversation. I had been so engaged with our conversation that I hadn't even noticed when the car came to stop in front of Braxton Enterprises.

"Thank you for the ride, Robin." I said as I reached for the door handle.

"No problem, Aaliyah." Robin said.

With that, I opened the door and stepped out of the car. I made my way into the building, smiling as I caught a glimpse of Tiffany. When she seen me, her lips pulled up into a small smile.

"Good mornin-."

"Where the hell have you been? I've been calling you non-stop for the last two days and you weren't answering me!" Tiffany exclaimed, cutting me off.

"You'd never believe what happened to me..." I sighed.

"How crazy could your weekend have been?" Tiffany questioned.

If only she knew...

"I'll have to tell you about it later." I said as I walked away from her desk.

A laugh escaped my lips as I heard Tiffany yell something incoherently behind me. I made my way to the elevator, pressing the button to my floor. A loud ding signaled that the elevator had made it to the seventeenth floor. I walked out, scurrying to my office.

I groaned as I looked at the work that was piled on top of my desk.

Sitting at the desk, I turned on my computer and began with my work for the day.
